Question

Write the structures of reagents/organic compounds ($$A$$ to $$F$$) in the given sequence of reactions:

Solution
Verified by Toppr

1. Since ($$A$$) undergoes reduction with $$H_2/Pt$$ to form Benzylamine, hence ($$A$$) has to be Benzamide.
2. ($$A$$) undergoes Hoffmann Bromamide Reaction to form Aniline ($$B$$).
3.($$B$$) further undergoes diazotisation to form Benzene Diazonium Chloride ($$C$$).
4. Since ($$E$$) reacts with $$Cl_2/Fe$$, it immediately implies that ($$F$$) would be Chlorobenzene, thus making ($$E$$) as Benzene.
5.($$C$$) on reaction with $$H_3PO_2/H_2O$$ ($$D$$) shall give ($$E$$).
