Vitamin B and vitamin C are water-soluble and so, taking them in excess is not harmful and it gets dissolved in water and excess can be removed from the body.
However, vitamin D is not water-soluble but is fat-soluble. And so, it gets accumulated in the body and so can be dangerous. Excess if vitamin D causes hypervitaminosis and causes toxicity.
