Rowan Atkinson

Remember Mr. Bean? Fortunately for him, Rowan Atkinson is nothing like his accident-causing, trouble-making TV counterpart. In fact, he is an electrical engineer from Newcastle University! This hilarious actor from England even continued to get his M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from The Queen’s College, Oxford. Difficult to imagine Mr. Bean fixing your electrical problems without causing a riot, isn’t it?

Michael Bloomberg

You can’t be the founder of one of the world’s most successful companies and the Mayor of New York city without having a degree to hold you high. Michael Bloomberg, the founder of Bloomberg L.P., one of the world’s largest financial software, data, and media company, is an engineer by profession. Bloomberg, the 8th-wealthiest person in the world, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Josh Hopkins University.

While international celebrities have had their fair share of academic experience, their Indian counterparts are just as incredible. Nagarjuna, whom you know as one of South India’s biggest superstars, is actually an engineer by profession. He got his Bachelor of Engineering degree from the College of Engineering, Guindy. Not only that, he also went ahead to complete his M.S. in automobile engineering from East Michigan University!

Shankar MahadevanSEL_at_moodi

If you thought Shankar Mahadevan’s only achievement was going breathless for over 2 minutes, think again. The brilliant singer and music composer is also a degree holder in computer science and software engineering from Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He also worked for the computer tech giant, Oracle, for some period of time.

Sonu Soodsonu_sood_dashing_look_hdwallpaper

If not for playing the ruthless Chedi Singh against Salman Khan’s Chulbul Pandey, actor Sonu Sood would have been pursuing a raging career in electronic engineering! The actor holds the degree after his graduation from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering in Nagpur.

Ashton Kutcher

Kutcher is exactly the guy you would quote as an example when someone says, “models aren’t smart”. The movie actor who began working as a model and TV star in popular shows like ‘That 70’s show’, had actually set out to become an engineer. He planned his major in biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa. As luck would have it, the star dropped out of college and pursued his goal of becoming an actor.

Speaking of models, Cindy Crawford – the planet’s highest paid model in the year 1995 (as listed by Forbes magazine), earned her academic scholarship to pursue chemical engineering from Northwestern University, Chicago. The model, however, chose her modelling career and dropped out after one-quarter.
