All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi is a premier government medical college and hospital based in New Delhi, India. Location
AIIMS Delhi is located in Ansari Nagar in New Delhi. This area surrounded by other prestigious medical bodies like the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) etc. Thus there are no connectivity issues regarding the campus as it is well connected to the airport (10.5 km) and the railway station (8 km).
About the Institute
AIIMS Delhi is an autonomous university. Dr Balram Airan and Dr M.C. Mishra are the dean and director respectively. It offers 100 seats for the flagship MBBS. The institute is fully under the control of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India.
Admission at AIIMS Delhi
For its MBBS course, AIIMS conducts its own Computer Based Test (CBT). With just 107 seats up for grabs, the conversion rate is very less and there is a heated race for admissions. The reservation policies for the seats during admission are followed as per the norms set by the Government of India. Similar CBTs are held for the admission to the PG courses. The format of the exam is that it will be in English or Hindi depending on the candidate’s preference. There is no prescribed syllabus as such for the exam. The marking scheme is that for every correct answer you get 1 mark and for every wrong answer you get -0.3mark. The percentile scores will be calculated following the normalization of the scores obtained.

Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate should be minimum 17 years old at the time of applying.
- The candidates must have passed their 10+2 examination from a recognized board with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.
- The minimum aggregate marks that the general category candidates need to secure in the qualifying exam is 60% and 50% for the SC/ST category candidates.
- The Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) need to submit the document of registration under section 7A of citizenship act, 1955.
- The foreign nationals are nominated by the Government of India. They don’t need to appear in the AIIMS MBBS examination but have to submit all necessary documents as per the eligibility criteria for AIIMS MBBS examination.
Application Fee
- For General/OBC category candidates- Rs. 1000.
- For SC/ST category candidates- Rs. 800.
The application fee can be paid through Debit Card/ Credit Card/Net Banking.
AIIMS MBSS 2018 Application Form
The AIIMS MBBS 2018 application form can only be filled in the online mode. The AIIMS MBBS 2017 Application Form was made available from 24th January 2017 onwards. Candidates need to choose their preference of the exam city after paying the exam fee. This is done on a first-come-first-serve basis. The choice of exam centre can’t be changed at a later stage under any circumstances.

Before you start filling the online application form, you’re required to keep the following documents/things ready:
- Your personal and academic details.
- Mobile number and email id.
- Scanned images of your signature, photograph, and left thumb impression in the prescribed format.
- Debit Card/ Credit Card/Net Banking details.
Specifications for Uploading Scanned Images
Please keep the following scanned images ready in the prescribed format and size specifications before you attempt to fill the online application form.
- Specifications for Uploading Photograph: Your photograph should be of 3.5cm X 4.5cm size on a white background with 200 dpi. File size: 50-100 kb. File Format: jpg/jpeg/gif/png.
- Specifications for Uploading Signature: Your signature should be of 6 cm X 3 cm size with 200 dpi. File size: 10-50 kb. File Format: jpg/jpeg/gif/png.
- Specifications for Uploading Left Thumb Impression: Your left thumb impression should be of 4 cm X 3 cm size with 200 dpi. File size: 10-50 kb. File Format: jpg/jpeg/gif/png.
Steps to Apply for AIIMS MBBS 2017
Step 1: Registration:
To register online, browse to the official website and click on the tab for registration. After reading all the instructions given therein, click the ‘Proceed’ tab. After successful registration, note down your id and password for future reference.
Step 2: Payment of Application Fee
You’ll be directed to pay the application fee online through Debit Card/Credit Card or Net Banking.
Step 3: Choose Exam-City
Once your payment is successful, you’ll be required to highlight your preference of exam centre.
Step 4: Filling of Personal Details
Fill up your educational and communication details in the online form and click on ‘Save’ and then on ‘Proceed’.
Step 5: Uploading Scanned Images
Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and left thumb impression as per the prescribed specifications.
Step 6: Take a Printout of the Application Form
Now go through the filled application form and carefully review all the information that you have provided. Once you’ve verified the information, click on the ‘Submit’ tab. Once the application form is successfully submitted, AIIMS will send you an acknowledgement with your unique registration number.
Course Structure and Fees
The flagship MBBS course is usually of a 5½ year duration which includes 4½ years of coursework and 1 year of compulsory internship. The course plan is a very hectic one with breaks provided in between in the forms of cultural weeks, fests etc.
The course is divided into 3 phases as:
- Pre-clinical
- Para Clinical
- Clinical.
CutOffs
The cutoff score is based on several factors like the number of candidates, the number of seats, marking scheme, the difficulty level of the exam, etc. The candidates belonging to the General Category need to score minimum 50% marks to qualify the AIIMS MBBS examination. The candidates belonging to SC/ST Category need to obtain 40% and the candidates belonging to the OBC Category need to score 45% marks in the AIIMS MBBS examination to qualify.
The exam conducting authority AIIMS Delhi releases a merit list consisting the candidate’s All India Rank (AIR), overall percentile and subject-wise percentile.

Fee Structure

Infrastructure & Facilities
AIIMS Delhi is fortunate enough to have been endowed with a competent faculty and a well-functioning infrastructure. It also has some of the best hospitals nearby as well as the best Speciality Care Centres within its campus for research as well as practice purposes. Central Library
The AIIMS Central Library has two floors and can accommodate 350 people at a time. The library has a huge collection of over 73142 books, 78727 bound journals, 8503 theses, and provides access to more than 1500 online journals in the area of medical sciences. The AIIMS Library also has access to important Medical Science databases like Access medicine, BMJ Best Practice, BMJ Case Reports, UPTODATE, Web of Science, NEJM Journal Watch, etc. The library is open round the clock, all throughout the week including Sundays and holidays except national holidays.
Computer Facility
Computer Facility was introduced at AIIMS Delhi in 1978 as a unit in the Department of Biophysics. It is engaged in activities like teaching, research, thesis guidance, and computerization of patient-care.
Central Workshop
Established in 1964, the central workshop’s primary objective was to promote the repair and maintenance of World-Class Biomedical Equipment in India. The workshop also helps in the research activities by modifying the instruments according to need.
Transport Facility
The Transport section provides transport services to the faculty and officers of AIIMS to carry out their duties, students, medical doctors, etc. Vehicles also ply between AIIMS and CRHSP Ballabgarh for transport of faculty, students, and residents. The transport section of AIIMS Delhi has its own fleet of buses and cars and some vehicles are also hired on a contract basis for various requirements of AIIMS.
Hostels
There are a total of twenty-two different halls of residence that are regarded as hostel accommodation. Of these fourteen are in the Ansari Nagar (East) campus and accommodates all undergraduates (except lady nursing students) and a majority of single postgraduates and resident doctors.
Boys Hostel: Hostel No. 1 to 8 and 18 and are for the undergraduate gents. A few double seaters are available in hostel 1-6. Rest all are single rooms. Hostel number 12,18,19,20 are for the postgraduate students. Triple seaters are available in 18 and 19.
Girls Hostel: Hostel number 10 and 15 have been allotted for undergraduate girls. Both the hostels provide single, double, four-seaters while hostel 10 provides 8 seaters as well. Hostels 11 and 13 are allocated to postgraduate girls with single, double, triple, four, six seater rooms. Hostel 14 and 16 have been allocated to postgraduate married ladies with single, double, triple seater rooms and one-bedroom set for married ladies.
Gym and Sports
There’s a gymnasium, tennis court, and an eight-lane swimming-pool in the Students Gymkhana premises. The boy’s hostel has a playground and floodlit courts for volleyball and basketball.
Cafeteria
The “Staff Cafeteria” is on the ground floor, the centre for Dental Education and Research, AIIMS, New Delhi. There are canteens for students such as AIIMS OPD canteen, RPC canteen and AIIMS trauma centre canteen.
Medical and Hospital facilities
The medical and hospital facilities are good in and around the campus because of the presence of the best hospitals and Speciality Care Centres. It provides speciality and super-speciality tertiary care services in more than 50 areas.
