The AIIMS entrance examination:

AIIMS entrance examination is a National Level UG medical entrance exam conducted by AIIMS Delhi to offer admissions in their MBBS programs. The All India Institue of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) comprise of autonomous educational institutions providing top-notch medical training.

The AIIMS entrance examination tests knowledge in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the 10+2 level. It will be held on Sunday, 27th of May, 2018.

Who can appear the AIIMS entrance examination 2018?

Only the candidates who meet all the eligibility criteria as laid down by the AIIMS institutes are qualified to apply for the AIIMS entrance examinations. The AIIMS institutes verify the details provided by the aspirant. A candidate will not be allowed to sit for the examinations if he/she does not meet all the eligibility criteria or any discrepancy is found in the details provided to the institute.

The eligibility criteria for the AIIMS entrance examination 2018 as laid down by the institute are as follows:

  • Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2018
  • Candidates born on or after 2nd January 2002 are not eligible to apply.
  • The candidates must have passed class 12th under 10+2 Scheme/ Senior School Certificate Examination (CBSE) or Intermediate Science (I. Sc.) or an equivalent Examination of a recognized University/Board of any Indian State.
  • The candidates should have English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects in their qualifying examination.
  • Candidates who have appeared or are appearing in the qualifying examination and expect to pass the examination with required percentage of marks are also eligible to apply and appear in AIIMS entrance examination 2018. However, their candidature will be valid only when they provide evidence of having passed 10+2 with the required subjects (English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and percentage of marks.
  • A candidate needs to obtain the minimum aggregate marks in the required subjects at the qualifying examination as illustrated in the table below:

  • There is no limit to the number of attempts. One can attempt AIIMS entrance examination until 30 years of age.

For Overseas Citizen of India (OCI):

The Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registered under Section 7A of Citizenship Act, 1955 are also eligible to appear for AIIMS entrance examination 2018. All terms and conditions applicable to Indian nationals taking the exam will also be applicable to them. Such candidates need to submit proof of registration as OCI to be eligible to take the test.

For Foreign National (For AIIMS New Delhi Only)

The Government of India can nominate foreign candidates who have scored an aggregate of 50% and above in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at their Intermediate or equivalent examination. Such candidates are eligible for direct admission to the MBBS course and need not sit for the AIIMS entrance examination.

Registration Process- Details you need to know:

Before attempting to register for the AIIMS Entrance Examination 2018, the candidate should ensure that all the eligibility criteria are fulfilled. Keep handy the below details to ensure a smooth registration process:

  • Scanned image of candidate’s recent colour passport size photograph with a white background. The photograph must be 3.5 x 4.5 cm (width x height), and the image size must be 10-100 KB.
  • Scanned image of candidate’s signature in 6 X 3 cm (width x height) size
  • Scanned image of candidate’s left thumb impression in 4 X 3 cm (width x height)
  • Valid e-mail id & mobile number
  • Qualification and academic details
  • Credit Card/Debit Card/ Net Banking details

Registration for AIIMS Entrance Examination is done only online. Follow these steps to register:

  • Open the AIIMS official website.
  • Click on the ‘New Registration’ Tab.
  • After reading the instructions, click on the ‘Proceed’ tab.
  • Now, fill your personal and contact information.
  • Note your ‘Candidate ID’ and press ‘OK’.
  • Pay the Application Fee.
  • Select choice of Exam Centre.
  • Fill Qualification and Address details.
  • Upload scanned images in the prescribed format.
  • After completing the entire procedure, click on the ‘Save & Proceed’ tab.
  • Please take a printout of the AIIMS 2018 Application Form for future reference and click on the ‘Final Submit’ tab.

Note: The application form will be made available in the last week of January 2018 and the last date to submit the same would be in the third week of February 2018.

Application Fees:

The fees for appearing the exam are different for different category of candidates. The fees can be paid only via online mode i.e. Debit/Credit Card or Internet Banking. The below table lists the details:

Admit Card:

The AIIMS Entrance Examination 2018 admit card will be made available on the official website from the first week of May 2018. It is mandatory to carry the admit card at the examination center, else the candidate may not be granted permission to enter. Candidates can download the admit card from the official website by providing application number and password.

AIIMS Entrance Examination 2018 Results:

AIIMS, Delhi will announce the score and percentile of each candidate on the official website on 12th June 2018. The minimum percentile required to qualify are 50% for General category, 45% for OBC category and 40% for SC/ST category. Once declared, the candidate can download the results through the website by providing login credentials.

 

Counselling:

The candidates qualifying the AIIMS Entrance Examination will be called for counselling, which is a process of allotting seats in the various AIIMS Institutes. AIIMS will release the counselling letters online in July 2018. The counselling for 2018 will begin July onward and will be conducted in three rounds.

The important points to keep in mind for the counselling process are:

  • The candidates should bring a set of photocopies along with original certificates.
  • Those candidates already admitted in any of the AIIMS should bring the statement or certificate from the respective AIIMS with one set of photocopies. (For round 2 of counselling onwards)
  • Failure to bring original certificate will make the candidate ineligible for the further process of counselling.

The AIIMS 2018 will be based on the 12th standard syllabus (under the 10+2 Scheme/Intermediate Science). Please note that the conducting authority prescribes no syllabus, but it would consist of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) and General Knowledge/Aptitude. Exam Pattern for AIIMS Entrance Examination 2018:

The candidates should be well versed with the exam pattern to get comfortable with the type of questions asked and the weightage of topics. The pattern is as follows:

  • The AIIMS Entrance Examination 2018 will be in the online mode i.e. Computer-Based Test (CBT).
  • The exam duration will be 3 hours and 30 minutes.
  • The exam will consist of 200 Multiple Choice and Reason-Assertion-type questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge.

Marking Scheme:

The marking scheme for the AIIMS Entrance Examination 2018 is as follows-

  • Each correct answer equals a score of 1 mark
  • For each incorrect answer, 1/3rd mark will be deducted
  • More than one response to a single question will be treated as a wrong answer and marks will be deducted.
