AIIMS Patna is the vision of the Hon’ble Prime minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee who decided to give to the nation six regional AIIMS with the mandate to provide the most modern healthcare facilities to every person in India at an affordable cost. All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna, officially named as Jayaprakash Narayan All India Institute of Medical Sciences, is a medical college and medical research public university based in Patna, Bihar, India. The Institute operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (India). Its foundation was laid by the then vice-president, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, on 3rd January 2004. AIIMS Patna started its operations on 25 September 2012 with around 50 medical students. AIIMS New Delhi has been mentoring the two new AIIMS: Patna and Bhubaneswar.

AIIMS Patna caters a footfall of 1000-1500 patients a day, does more than 200 investigations at 27% lower than the CGHS rates, has conducted more than 800 major surgeries since march 2014 including Total Hip Replacement, Total Knee Replacement, and Cochlear implant. The institute also has electronic medical records, a telemedicine programme called Chhattisa, a community outreach programme which has conducted more than 50 health camps and is all set to start its three modular OT and upgrade its bed strength to 300 besides starting 24×7 emergency services.

AIIMS Patna Admission 2017

The college offers MBBS and B.Sc Nursing course at the undergraduate level, and M.D and M.S courses at the postgraduate level with numerous specializations to the candidates pursuing their career in the Medical field.

• As per the initiative taken by Director, AIIMS, New Delhi, it has been decided to conduct the competitive Entrance Examination of MBBS through a Computer-Based Test (CBT) [Online]. Therefore, all candidates will be required to appear at CBT Online Entrance Examination, which will be conducted by the AIIMS, New Delhi.

• Candidates seeking admission in MD and MS programmes served by the institute must need to go through an entrance test. The institute arranges and conducts different admission test for the individual courses. On the basis of the merit list based on the marks secured in Stage-I, the number of candidates will be 3 times the seats available and they will be invited for Personal Assessment/ interview by a Selection Committee.
• The selection of candidates for B.Sc Nursing will be made on a 2-stage performance evaluation as under

Stage I : Written Test:

Candidates will appear for an entrance examination (Written Test) of 90 minutes duration consisting of one paper – it includes 70 objective type (Multiple Choice) questions in the subjects of fundamentals of Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing including Anatomy, Physiology & Pharmacology, Obstetrics Nursing and Midwifery, Paediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing and Professional Trends in Nursing.

Stage II: Personal Assessment / Interview:

On the basis of the merit list based on the marks secured in Stage-I, candidate three times the number of seats will be invited for Personal Assessment by a Selection Committee.

Eligibility Criteria for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)

If you are an OCI registered under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955, then you would also be eligible to give the test. All terms and conditions applicable for Indian Nationals would be applicable to you and you would need to give proof of the same.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals

For AIIMS New Delhi, only Foreign individuals who are selected by the Indian Government need to have scored a minimum of 50% marks in all the subjects of ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY in their Intermediate Science or an equivalent examination in order to be eligible for admission to the M. B. B. S. Course. Foreign individuals do not need to give the Competitive Entrance Examination.

Academics

Degrees Offered

AIIMS, Patna offers undergraduate degrees in the following two courses –

1. MBBS – To get admitted into this course, the candidate should have passed the 12^th class under the 10+2 scheme/Senior School Certificate Examination (CBSE) or Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) or an equivalent examination of a recognised university/board of any Indian state with a minimum of 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The course of studies leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences shall last for a minimum of 5½ academic years including one-year compulsory internship. He/she should have secured a minimum 50% Aggregate. All SC/ST candidates have a relaxation of 5% in the minimum aggregate. The total annual intake in the course is of 100 students.

1. B.Sc. Hons. Nursing – AIIMS Patna offers this 4-year undergraduate course in Nursing with an annual intake of 60 students. The candidate must have attained or will attain the age of 17 years as on the 31^st of December of the year of admission. The applicant must have passed 12^th class under the 10+2 scheme/Senior School Certificate Examination (CBSE) or Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) or an equivalent examination of a recognised university/board of any Indian state with a minimum of 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Only female candidates are eligible for the course.

Candidates for B.Sc. Hons. Para- Medical Courses should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and either Biology or Mathematics.

AIIMS MBBS Admit Card 2017

The admit card of AIIMS MBBS 2017 will be available from May 1, 2017. AIIMS MBBS 2017 admit card will be available for those candidates only whose application form will be accepted. Candidates can download admit card by entering their application number and password. After downloading the admit card, candidates are advised to verify all the entries in the admit card such as name, address, exam roll number, photograph, signature, allotted exam center, etc. Candidates are advised to preserve the AIIMS MBBS admit card 2017 till the completion of admission process as it will required at the time of counselling and admission process for identity verification.

AIIMS MBBS Result 2017

The examination authority will declare the result of AIIMS MBBS 2017 on June 14. The result will be declared for only those candidates who will secure the qualifying percentile as prescribed by the examination authority. The AIIMS MBBS result 2017 will be declared rank wise as well as roll number wise. To check result candidates have to look for their name, roll number, father’s name and category in the result list.

AIIMS 2017 MBBS Counselling

The counselling of AIIMS MBBS 2017 will be held for allocation of MBBS seats at AIIMS, New Delhi.  Facilities

The institute has started offering some state-of-the-art services, like joint replacement, arthroscopy, cochlear implants, Interventional radiology, paediatric urology, laparoscopic surgery, and hepato-biliary surgery. Multiple important clinical areas are fully functional, including paediatric and neonatal ICU, physical medicine and rehabilitation, post-operative ward, high dependency unit, advanced radiology setup including digital X-ray, digital mammography, 4D colour doppler, 256 slice CT scan, Biplane DSA (digital subtraction angiography). Some free laboratory tests are available for BPL (below poverty line) card holder patients. 3T MRI just started in January 2017, and the institute also has procured 150 more beds, which would take its total bed strength beyond 400.

College Festivals

AIIMS Patna conducts an annual festival called ‘Kaizen’. The AIIMS-Patna cricket team just beat the NIFT-Patna team at a cricket match on the concluding day of Kaizen, the three-day annual sports and cultural event of AIIMS-Patna. Another match this year saw the premier medical college’s students’ team losing to a team of their teachers. AIIMS-Patna director PK Singh, dean PP Gupta, medical superintendent Umesh Kumar Bhadani were among those who soaked in the festive atmosphere. In other events, IIT-Patna beat the AIIMS team in football while BIT-Patna beat the hosts in volleyball. Bollywood singer Gajendra Verma also performed live for the festival.

Hall of Fame

AIIMS Patna doubled the intake of its students into its MBBS course to 100 in 2013 from 50 in 2012. Currently, the institute has 56 faculty members. The representatives of AIIMS Patna and UNICEF visited Muzaffarpur on June 13, 2013, and took blood samples of AES-affected children for the test. AIIMS-Patna has collaborated with the National Knowledge Network (NKN), which helps it in availing facilities like virtual classes and e-library besides collaboration in research and telemedicine facilities with other centres for higher learning across the country.

In July 2013, AIIMS Patna developed a cell phone application – Sankat Sanket – to help people in a medical emergency. On 26 December 2013, AIIMS Patna performed its first surgery. Some non-resident Indian doctors have joined AIIMS Patna. In July 2015, AIIMS Patna launched a free surgery service for leprosy patients. On 6 March 2016, AIIMS Patna made an attempt to register its name in the Guinness World Records by training 3,200 people in first-aid care at the Siwan’s Rajendra Stadium.

Infrastructure

AIIMS Patna is the largest of all the AIIMS when it comes to the area and is spread across 134 acres. The main college building along with residency for professors, the AYUSH building, trauma centre and hostels for students is complete. Most of the work of main OPD building is mostly complete and its lower floors have started functioning now. The main hospital complex consists of four interconnected seven-floor high buildings.

AIIMS Patna also has four lecture theatres. Each one is equipped with an audio system, smart board, projector and other modern technologies. All the departments have their respective laboratories and each one is very equipped with modern, complex instruments.

Although new, AIIMS Patna is already in news for of course the good reasons. Some construction is still in progress and is expected to be completed by Dec 17′. We hope that the college produces the finest alumni network who will make a difference to the society at large and become well-known names in the world.
