The National Law University, Delhi doesn’t officially release the syllabus for the law entrance exam every year. But on the basis of the previous years’ CLAT syllabus and question papers, we have painstakingly put together the syllabus for BA LLB, LLM and Ph.D. programs. In this article, find all information you need to know about AILET syllabus.
This year, AILET 2019 is expected to be conducted on May 5 in an offline (pen-paper) mode. All the law aspirants can get started with the registration at nludelhi.ac.in from January 2019. All candidates can take a look at the AILET syllabus in order to prepare for the examination.
- AILET Syllabus for LLB program would include topics from English including Comprehension, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Legal Aptitude, Elementary Mathematics and Logical Reasoning.
- AILET Syllabus for LLM program would cover topics from Law of Contracts, Constitutional Law, Law of Torts, Criminal Law and Legal Theory.

AILET Syllabus – LLB
For BA LLB, the AILET Syllabus would cover the following sections:
Students need to attempt 35 questions in each of the first four sections and 10 question in the last section.
AILET Syllabus 2019 for English Section
English section is all about testing a candidate’s aptitude in English language in terms of Grammar, Comprehension and Vocabulary. Here are the 4 major groups that come under this section:
- Reading Comprehension: Passages based on topics like Introduction to Law, Social Issues, International Law, Administrative Law, Criminal Law, etc. All the questions are theme-based.
- Grammar: Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Correction, Identification of Part of Speech, etc.
- Vocabulary: Error Spotting, Synonyms, Cloze Test, etc.
- Verbal Ability: Para Jumbles, Summary Writing, Critical Reasoning, etc.

AILET Syllabus for Elementary Mathematics
- In this section, the exam tests the basic arithmetic skills of candidates.
- AILET includes 20 questions from this section.
- It consists of both the basic mathematical concepts and certain modern mathematical concepts.
- The questions get asked from mostly class 10th Mathematics. Therefore, even the level of questions would generally be easy to moderate.
- Ensure that you go through all the basic formulas and concepts of Class 10th and 12th.

AILET Syllabus for Logical Reasoning
- Logical reasoning is meant to test a candidate’s ability to analytically comprehend various aspects of a situation and then logically come up with solutions.
- It also covers various logical aptitude questions like syllogism, logical sequences, analogies, etc. But this section does not have visual reasoning questions.

AILET Syllabus for Legal Aptitude
- This section totally focuses on the legal aptitude of students.
- The questions are specially framed as legal propositions with a set of facts that satisfies the propositions.
- Candidates need to analyze suitable propositions and also answer questions based on the given set of facts. They need to apply their legal aptitude for solving the problems.
- This section makes up for 50 questions out of the total 200 questions in AILET.
