In an effort to provide an objective, fair and efficient selection procedure to recognize merit of aspirants in quest for admissions to undergraduate courses, the Association of Private Medical and Dental colleges in Karnataka has floated COMEDK or Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka. The member institutions include 150 private engineering institutes, 14 medical and 25 dental colleges across Karnataka that offer undergraduate level B.E, MBBS, BDS, B. Arch programs respectively. The institutes provide admissions to their undergraduate programs on account of the rank secured in Under Graduate Common Entrance Test (UGET) conducted by COMEDK.
COMEDK Eligibility Criteria:
Students from all across the country can sit for COMEDK UGET. The eligibility for the diverse programs notified at the official COMEDK website is as below:
1. For Medical/Dental programs:
The applicant must have qualified/ appearing for 10+2 or second PUC or an equivalent examination recognised by Central/ State Government with final two years of study comprising of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English as compulsory subjects. The applicant must have passed the qualifying examination (or expect to in case they are appearing for the qualifying examination) with a minimum of 50% in PCB (General merit students) or 40% in PCB (for SC/ST/OBC students from Karnataka). Also the candidate must pass in all the compulsory subjects separately.
2. For Engineering programs:
1. The applicant must have qualified/ appearing for 10+2 or second PUC or an equivalent examination recognised by Central/ State Government with final two years of study comprising of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and English as compulsory subjects.
2. The applicant must have passed the qualifying examination (or expect to in case they are appearing for the qualifying examination) with a minimum of 45% in PCM (General merit students) or 40% in PCM (for SC/ST/OBC students from Karnataka). Also the candidate must pass in all the compulsory subjects separately.
3. The applicants seeking admission for B.Arch. programs must have appeared and cleared NATA with the prescribed score.
4. The diploma students are not eligible to apply for admissions through COMEDK.
COMEDK syllabus:
UGET is entirely based on the current syllabus for 10+2 higher secondary or second PUC.
COMEDK Test Pattern:
For Medical/Dental programs: The test consists of two papers; one containing 60 questions each from Physics and Chemistry and other paper containing 60 questions each from Biology and English. The duration of both the papers is two hours each.
For Engineering programs: The test consists of two papers; one containing 60 questions each from Physics and Chemistry to be completed in a duration of two hours and other paper containing 60 questions from Mathematics only to be completed in a duration of one hour.
For both Medical/Dental and Engineering programs: Each correct answer carries 1 mark whereas no marks will be given to multiple answers. There is no negative marking in case of wrong answers.

COMEDK selection process:
The selection to undergraduate courses in member colleges of COMEDK is based on the scores or rank secured by the aspirant in the entrance test. The cut-off list is generated on the basis of the overall marks scored in the test and the students achieving the prescribed cut-off will be deemed selected. Course-wise cut-off is updated on the COMEDK website for the students to assess chances of admission to their choice of branch and college. The selected students should furnish their original qualifying examination score sheet at the time of counselling.
