Only IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee grants admissions after the candidate clears AAT. Rest of the colleges grant admissions through the ranks secured in JEE Main Paper 2. It is a pen and paper exam conducted at the respective centres. The objective type paper of three hours’ duration has questions based on Mathematics, Aptitude and a Drawing/Sketching Test. The ranks are prepared on the basis of JEE Main normalization procedure and only those securing the qualifying cut-off score can appear for the JEE Advanced Exam. The qualifiers then appear for AAT or the Architectural Aptitude test. The paper consists of an Aptitude test that is mandatory to clear for admission to B.Arch. colleges.

The results of the annual survey are published in the July 1st 2013 issue. It was set up in the year 1857 by the erstwhile Government of Bombay from the grants made by the philanthropist Sir Jamshedji Jeejeebhoy, the first Baronet of Bombay.
