Though most banking sector jobs involve transfer from one place to another after the completion of the term, many people still opt for jobs in this sector, for the pay scale and the job security. You can look for jobs both in the government sector as well as the private sector when it comes to bank jobs. Banking examinations that you can sit for:

State Bank of India, Probationary Officer examination The State Bank of India, announces vacancies for the post of probationary officers and applications need to be sent in by the candidates who are interested in appearing for this examination. The examination will be a written one and consist of two sections of which Part I will be based on objective type questions, while Part II will be based on subjective type questions. Once candidates clear this examination, they will be asked for a round of interview and then finally the decision as to who all will be applicable to these posts will be decided.
Common Written selection examination by IBPS for Probationary officer This is like a common entrance test which is conducted by the IBPS or the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. The IBPS has around 22 banks enlisted with it, which will hire candidates for the post of probationary officers based on this common entrance test. The Government of India works with the IBPS and they conduct this examination throughout the country. The competition for this examination is also very tough and hence candidates will have to prepare themselves really well for it.
Examination of Private Banks There is no strict examination structure or pattern for all the private banks. Each bank has its own system of operation and conducts their examinations separately. Most of these tests are aptitude based and hence students who wish to fare well in these Bank Exams in India will need to focus on Mathematics, General Knowledge, and English grammar.
Examination for clerical posts in the SBI This is another examination which is conducted on a large scale by the SBI for vacancies in the clerical posts. This examination too consists of two parts- one which is the written examination and the other which is the interview. Candidates need to focus on English, mathematics, analytical and logical reasoning skills if they want to fare well in this examination. Regional and Rural Banks recruitment through a common entrance examination There are various regional and rural banks scattered in different parts of the country. This is a common entrance examination like most of the Bank Exams in India which hires based on a written examination, followed by an interview of the candidates who have qualified in the examination. This examination is conducted for different posts and each post will come with its own eligibility criteria which candidates need to check out before they apply. Like most of the other examinations, attention needs to be paid on English, Mathematics and General Knowledge.
Specialist Officer recruitment by the IBPS This is another examination which serves as a common entrance test conducted by the IBPS. There are several posts for Specialist officers in different banks of India, and when a sufficient number of vacancies, come along, notifications for this examination are released. Vacancies may be for varied posts and hence there will be no fixed pay scale. Candidates will get the pay as per the vacancy post that they can fill up.
IBPS examinations for clerical posts There are various public sector undertakings banks which need to fill up their clerical vacancies as well. The IBPS conducts the examination for these posts to be filled up across the country. This is again a common entrance examination and hence the competition is extremely high. This examination is generally held in either of the last two months of the year. It is important to prepare well for a written examination as well as prep for the interview. The post will vary based on the vacancies that there are in each state and which undertaking has a vacancy.
