Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) is one of the most prime institutions in our country. The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is an all India Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Admissions to all the Integrated First Degree programmes of BITS, Pilani, at Pilani campus, Goa campus, and Hyderabad Campus for the academic year 2017-18 will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by BITS, Pilani.
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test, or commonly known as BITSAT, is one of the most prestigious examinations of the country for it holds the entry ticket to the undergraduate programmes of top ranking institutes of the nation for its qualifiers. BITS Pilani has its expanse over four campuses and all of them boast of lavish international facilities, to begin with. The colleges are enriched with a very high standard of teaching faculty along with a splendid placement record. These factors lay the foundation for its record of high rank among the top colleges of India.
It has proved it’s worth in the field of engineering and engineering research through the quality of knowledge imparted here which is highly creditable. The Birla Education Trust was founded in 1929. The intermediate college became a degree college and later offered postgraduate courses. The masters program began in 1955. In 1964, The Birla Colleges of Humanities, Commerce, Engineering, Pharmacy and Science were merged to form the Birla Institute of Technology & Science. The BITS institution consists of 3 campuses situated at Pilani, Goa and the relatively new campus of Hyderabad. For international students, BITS has another of it’s campus situated in Dubai. International students can study engineering at Dubai campus.
How to enroll?

Students are selected for this institution via an online test, called BITSAT. The test is conducted online in May and June in cities all over India. The exam tests the candidate’s knowledge, reasoning and analytical abilities in English, physics, chemistry, mathematics and logical reasoning. The paper is based on higher secondary curriculum in India and abroad. There are 150 questions in the paper. The paper is of 450 marks. If students are able to finish paper early, then they get 10 bonus questions to solve. Thus a student can score more than 450 marks in the paper.
Since 2011, number of applicants for BITSAT has been increasing steadily from 123,000 in 2011 to 180,000 in 2014. BITSAT differs from the conventional written examination; the online exam is given at over 20 locations throughout India.
Admission to Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani – Dubai Campus is solely based on scores in the 12th standard qualifying exam. Although the BITS Pilani-Dubai campus was established for the educational requirements of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, admission is open to students of all nationalities.
BITS Pilani provides three tire education system, First Degree, Higher degree and Ph.D.

Pilani is located 220 kilometres (140 mi) west of Delhi and 217 kilometres (135 mi) north of Jaipur; the BITS campus is south of the bus stand. The area of the campus (which includes the Birla Education Trust) is over 990 acres (400 ha); its developed area is 49 acres (20 ha), of which 60,769 square metres (15.016 acres) is used for the BITS building. The campus has 11,245 square metres (121,040 sq ft) of classrooms and 7,069 square metres (76,090 sq ft) of laboratories.
The BITS campus is very lively and full of energy with several activities and campus groups participating in the energy at the bits campus at any point of time. This makes the stay of students at the campus very much delightful. BITS students organise a lot of activities round the year some of which are listed below:
The institute has eleven hostels for men and one for women. The hostels are named after saints, historical and religious figures. Every two men’s hostels share a dining area, and there is a separate dining area for the women’s hostel. All dining areas are student-managed. Students may also dine at the Institute Canteen (IC), the All-Night Canteen (ANC) and the Student Activity Centre (SAC) cafeteria (Food King). The ANC is also student-managed.
Oasis is the cultural festival conducted annually since 1971 by the students of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in Pilani, India. Organised one week prior to Diwali, the festival attracts more than 200 colleges from across the country. Usually held in October, it attracts thousands of outside participants. Events include music, drama, dance, stage and fashion shows and treasure hunts. Professional shows involve singers and bands.
