CA CPT – Common Proficiency Test 2018
Over the years, the Chartered Accountancy profession has achieved tremendous growth by virtue of professionalism and high level service given by its members and is playing a major role in our finance and economy. The number of members rose to 2,35,000 as opposed to meager 1700 in 1949. Their specialized knowledge and skills are used by various organizations in today’s world. ICAI, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is the apex body established under an act by the Parliament. CPT is the entry level test required to become a CA as per ICAI. Students who wish to appear for the test shall register and appear for it after graduating 10+2 examination. Students who wish to appear for the next phase examinations need to pass both the CPT test as well as 10+2 exams. CA CPT 2018 December session under the old scheme will be held on December 16, 2018. Only those candidates who are registered with ICAI for Common Proficiency Course (CPC) of Chartered Accountancy will be eligible to give CA CPT exam held in December 2018 session.
Note: CA CPT exam will NOT be conducted after June 2019 session. CA CPT 2019 June session will be the last session of CPT exam. It has been decided in lieu of the introduction of new CA entry level exam, i.e. CA Foundation 2018, under the revised scheme. After June 2019, CA Foundation will become the sole CA entry-level qualification examination. Until this period, both CA CPT and CA Foundation Examinations will be conducted by ICAI.
- Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who plan to appear for CA CPT 2018 in December 2018 session exam, they should have registered with ICAI in CPC course. Only registered candidates are eligible to apply for CA CPT 2018 December session. Following are the eligibility criteria of CA CPT 2018:
- Candidates must have passed their 10th and 12th level qualifying examination from a recognized board of education or equivalent examination.
- Candidates must have registered with ICAI for CPC course before June 30, 2017, to be eligible for appearing in CPT exam.
- Candidates who have completed bachelor or master’s degree in commerce with at least 55% marks are exempted from appearing in CA CPT 2018,
- Candidates holding bachelor or master degree in a stream other than commerce must have obtained at least 60% marks in aggregate of all subjects are also exempted from appearing in the entry level test.

This Common Proficiency Test will be conducted as per provisions of Regulation 25D (3) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. |
Note:
- There will be negative marking for each wrong answer. ¼ (One Fourth) mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Multiple darkened circles for a question will also be treated as wrong answer.
- Any fraction of mark will be rounded off to the next full mark.
- Use of calculators is allowed. Scientific calculators are not allowed.

The candidates may fill up the CPT examination application form online and also remit the fee online by using VISA or MASTER Credit Card/ Debit Card. You may use Internet Banking facility for remitting the fee online for your CA CPT December 2018.

- Examination Fees
Fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) for centers in India, US $ 300/- for Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai & Muscat centers and INR 1700/- (Rupees One Thousand Seven Hundred only) for Kathmandu center can be remitted using online payment gateway facility with VISA/Master/Maestro Credit/Debit Card.
Late fee of INR 600/- (USD 10) is applicable on payments made on-line from 27th April, 2018

Ø Issue of Admit Cards:
Admit card with photograph and signature of all the candidates will be posted on http://icaiexam.icai.org generally 21 days prior to the date of examination. Candidates may print the admit card from the website, which will be valid for admission to the examination.
Also, candidates are advised to keep a photo copy of the PDF of the filled-up exam application with them for reference, whenever they correspond with ICAI Exam Department.
Candidates, whose eligibility is in doubt, will be addressed for clarification/submission of documentary evidence with reference to fulfilment of eligibility requirements, as the case may be, normally 14 days prior to the date of CPT.
