Medical Entrances are one of the most sought after exams in India. People prepare for years at a stretch for medical entrances, dropping years with a single goal in sight. And, with this level of competition, it becomes tough at times to keep oneself in complete mind and body. So, we go through exquisite details of how to crack this elusive and evading exam, and all its different forms of medical entrances– AIIMS, AIPMT, JIPMER, ah, do they ever end.

Coming to what your approach should be for medical entrances from Day 1, focus on Physics and Chemistry, with stress on the former as you would do for Biology. I clearly understand the fact that Biology has twice the weightage of Physics, but the marks for students are quite close in Biology while they seriously vary in Physics, forming a strange bell curve in the distribution. To follow up in Physics, you need to have a few pre-requisites as well.

For the proper working of Physics along with the numericals, going through the Mathematics of Class-X NCERT from cover to cover is a must. Knowing how to meddle with formula, and do basic equations and area calculation is important without having to memorize all the formulae in the handbook. Apart from that, prepare your own ‘handbook’ of formulae from the first day, and have it updated regularly.

Chemistry, for medical entrances, requires a short dedication but long commitment. You need to give time to it on a daily basis, going through the Inorganic Chemistry’s equations and structures of Organic Chemistry, along with the formulae of Physical Chemistry. Doing it slow is good as you remain in touch with the subject. Divide your work over the weekdays and follow strictly.

Biology is an integral part of the preparation, and needs to be completely internalized. Every word of NCERT, including the labelling on the diagram is to be known for appearing in medical entrance exams. Every single piece of information is important and NCERT Book is your Bible for Medical Entrance Exam.

Regular tests are a must to check how well prepared you are. So, every week plan to have a complete test to understand your grasp of the concepts and similarly devise your own methods of improvement. Believe me; all tips shall remain shallow if you do not follow your own cider-clock, for it shall be best suited to you. Now, as you take the plunge in, enjoy the journey because that shall decide your destiny.
