Delhi Public School: The paramount army
It is established that what makes an individual is well carved within his time at school. While the society and government can’t stress enough on primary and senior secondary education, Delhi Public School exists as a chain of schools all across the nation and beyond, providing top class education facilities to its students. Being a Delhi Public School alumnus myself, I have had the privilege of being a part of this family: be it smart classrooms inspired from American institutes or world class sports facilities, the schools never fall short.
The Delhi Public School (DPS) society is arguably one of the largest institutions providing school level education in India in the private sector. Over 330 schools in India alone and 19 schools abroad in countries like UAE, Indonesia, Kuwait, Nepal, Singapore, Qatar and Uganda are associated with DPS. The Delhi Public School Society is the administrative authority for all the institutions under its banner. Some of the schools are also affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in New Delhi. The Society was founded by Pinkesh Barjatiya in 1949 and later developed by Anant Barjatiya.
The Mission
Delhi Public School values discipline among its students the most, evident by their motto ‘Service before self’. The society aims to preserve and enhance the highest standards of excellence and prepare generations for the 21st century. The students of Delhi Public School are helped to master the expanding horizons of technology as also become the repository of a deep commitment to Indian ethos and culture in its pristine form.
Delhi Public School students are equipped to access the best opportunities of growth and advancement by being prepared linguistically and culturally for them. The concept of enlightened citizens of the world will be the backdrop of all their endeavours. The students are carefully sensitized to environmental concerns, the feeling of nationalism and communal harmony. They very well understand the contemporary challenges of education and commit to fulfilling collective responsibilities towards children in the country.
Delhi Public School: Through the corridors
While diversity exists at the heart of Delhi Public School, the chain of schools strongly believe in all-round development. The schools are known for their importance given to all walks of life – from academics to sports to cultural activites. Every academic session, the Delhi Public School societies host inter-DPS competitions, much like inter-school competitions (but exclusive for Delhi Public Schools!) for art, dance, music, vocals, quiz, science, spelling bee along with all sports and much more! All through the year, the best of the lot from each school meet at one of the schools for several such competitions and celebrate the mere joy of representing their schools at national and international levels.
The schools allow only English as the medium of communication which is practiced vigorously too. Through this, communication skills are addressed and given special importance. Classrooms are equipped with smart systems like Educomp which help in the students’ visual understanding. Teachers are also provided a laptop to help personalize their teaching methods, so that no student is left out. Apart from such facilities, the schools actively promote students to participate in national and international level Olympiads along with providing special training for them. The school provides scholarships to encourage upcoming students in every field.
The Top Ranker
In the academic perspective Delhi Public School has never failed to impress. In 2015, 10 students made it to the prestigious NTSE scholarship program. Students also qualify in Olympiads such as INPhO, INChO, IIO, etc. DPS R.K. Puram was listed as the top school in India in CBSE by the Education World Survey of 2015. The Australia-India BRIDGE School partnership by the Australian Department of Education at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram was conceptualised with a goal of broadening the Indo-Australian relationship by connecting 16 schools and their students across both countries. The partnership was approved by delegates of Australia and saw their Minister of Education, Hon’ble Mr. Christopher Pyne as the chief guest in August. Students of DPS have also entered Ivy League institutions (15 in 2015, 8 in 2014) by clearing SATs.
The list is never ending. Check out Delhi Public School Society’s list of achievements in academics, sports and cultural fields!

According to popular opinion, branches at R.K.Puram, Mathura Road, Vasant Vihar are considered to be the best among the DPS schools. It is very important to know the kind of facilities offered by a school before getting admissions in them. Toppr wishes you all the very best!
