About the Examination that is conducted for IBPS
Under IBPS the examination conducted is called CWE which expands to mean Common Written Examination (CWE. This examination is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) itself as a pre-requisite for selection of personnel for Clerical cadre posts in Public Sector Banks. Hence, all public sector banks use CWE as a base to fill the vacancies for this post. This examination was commenced in the year 2011 and since then it has been the apex one to select suitable candidates for the job in the clerical arena, also this examination is conducted in various locations throughout the country. It accepts applications from all the candidates online through its official website http://www.ibps.in to complete the registration process and not only this the mode of examination is also online. This year IBPS is conducting this renowned Clerk exam for the eighth year in a row now and hence it is named as IBPS Clerk CWE VII.
In order to be selected or qualify for the ultimate IBPS examination the candidates have to pass in all the examinations conducted, and in this case, it happens in two phases-
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
In order to qualify IBPS, the examinee needs to pass both the above examinations, but the relief here is that these examinees who qualify will not have to undergo an interview process but this only happens after the candidate has pass the mains i.e. 100% weightage is given to the result of main examination’s result.

IBPS Clerk Exam Centre Selection
While filling the online application form the candidates are given the option to choose the centre of their comfort and preference. However, IBPS can allot these candidates a centre other than the choice made by them if there is non-availability of seats at preferred selected venues. As a disclaimer, no complaints are entertained by IBPS in regards to change the exam centre of a candidate.
The Process of Registration
As per the Notification Calendar of Online CWE, the details pertaining to registration and examinations to be strictly adhered to are-
- The registration process will be in online mode only and there will be a single registration for both Preliminary and Main examination, wherever applicable.
- Candidates will be required to upload the following documents as per the specification given in advertisement.
(1) Photograph of the Applicant – 20 kb to 50 kb in .jpg file
(2) Signature of the Applicant – 10 kb to 20 kb in .jpg file
(3) Thumb impression of the Applicant – 10 kb to 20 kb in .jpg file
(4) Scanned copy of handwritten declaration as per the format, which will be available in the respective advertisement – 10 kb to 20 kb in .jpg file
