Examination Process
There are two levels that are there in the IBPS Examination. There are two levels of Common Written Exam (CWE) & Interview. Those participants who qualify in the Common written exam are thereafter eligible for the Interview. For the IBPS Clerk & PO exams, there are Preliminary and Mains examinations and those candidates who qualify in the Pre exam are eligible for mains exam and then Interview.
Common Written Exam (CWE)
For the IBPS PO/ Clerk exam, there is the Prelims and Mains exam. The IBPS Pre exam is divided into three parts – Reasoning for 35 marks, English for 30 marks and Quantitive Aptitude for 35 marks. The time duration is 1 hour. The total marks for the Mains Exam are 200. The time provided is 2/2.5 hours. The subjects that are covered are Reasoning, General Awareness, English / Hindi Language, Quantitative Aptitude / Numerical Ability, Computer Knowledge, Professional Knowledge.
Each subject carries equal weightage. There is negative marking too. For every wrong answer, there is a deduction of 0.25 marks.
Interview
Candidates who go onto qualify in the CWE thereafter have to appear for an interview. This interview is conducted by the IBPS Department at centres all over the country.

What to Prepare for IBPS Exam?
Reasoning
The reasoning is a very important subject and it plays a significant role in any bank exam. The reasoning is scoring so if you prepare well you can push your score through this subject. Topics to concentrate on are series, analogy, coding, problem-solving, passages, comprehension etc.
General Knowledge
General Knowledge is extremely important for any competitive examination and the same is with banking exam. You have to keep yourself updated on daily events and activities in India and the world, you must read the newspaper daily and that bit of effort itself will help you cover most of the GK. Concentrate on latest happenings in the Banking and Finance Sector. Current affairs is what one needs to concentrate on. Language
You might choose English or Hindi depending on your background stream. Since English is a global language, the examiner would like to check your English knowledge and how you perform on this subject. One must have a good grip on the language.
The candidate has to have a good command of the English subject, only then can they score well than the rest of the candidates. English is an important topic in any exam. You need to focus on comprehension, prepositions, passages, idioms and phrases, spotting errors etc.
Quantitative Aptitude
Quantitative Aptitude is time-consuming. The main portion of this paper is data interpretation. consume lots of time to solve the problems. Data interpretation is the major part of this subject one needs to have a good grip on Tabulation, sequences, number systems, quadratic equations, ratio proportion, percentages and averages, Pie chart, Line chart, line graph and Bar chart, etc.
Computer Knowledge
Computer knowledge is another subject on which the candidate needs to prepare. One’s basic knowledge and computer skills are tested. The candidate would need to prepare on the basics of computers, network basics, operating system functions, basic internet knowledge, Microsoft office skills etc.
Professional Knowledge
IBPS Professional Knowledge Paper is aimed at those persons who are applying for the Specialist Officer post. The IBPS Special Officer post includes positions such as IT Officer, Agriculture Field Officer, Law Officer, HR/Personnel Officer, Marketing Officer, etc. The syllabus for every specialization is different.
