The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection which is better known as IBPS is a recruitment body, it was established in 1975 with an aim of providing employment opportunities to the young graduates of our country in the banking sector (public) of India. It is an autonomous body which assists in recruitment, placement and promotion services to the nationalized banks of our country. Let us look at the prospect of IBPS Jobs in our country.

In the year 2011, IBPS has started conducting Common Written Examination (CWE) to recruit clerks and officers for the nationalized public-sector banks. The exam is conducted in various locations of the country. The examination was previously conducted offline but now it is conducted completely in online mode. It offers recruitment and selection services to Public-sector Banks, SBI and its Associates, RBI, NABARD, SIDBI, LIC, Insurance companies and other bodies associated with IBPS group.

IBPS Jobs: The Process of Recruitment

All graduates those who are interested to make a career in banking sector, this platform is one of the best platforms. The candidates must ensure that they go through the relevant and minimum qualification required for applying for the jobs available under IBPS. Vacancies available for various posts must possess relevant qualification. The interested candidates can apply for the post of Research Associate, for Probationary Officer (PO Exam), Specialist Officer (SO Exam), Clerk Exam and Regional Rural Bank – Officer Grade A (I, II, III) and Group B (Multipurpose) ND (RRB Exam). All applicants must submit or register under the website of IBPS.

The Pattern of Examination

To apply for the government job vacancies through IBPS the jobseekers must apply online for registration. The registration is done through nominal charge and the applicant can sit for the prelims and mains with this single registration. While applying candidates must be very careful in identifying their eligibility criteria for the post applied for, and then proceed for payment.

IBPS Common Written Exams(CWE)

  • Common Written Examination PO / MT better known as Probationary Officers and or Management Trainees Vacancies.
  • Common Written Examination for Clerical assistants
  • Common Written Examination for Specialist Officer (IT, Law, engineering, Marketing and other professionals.)
  • Common Written Examination RRB Officers and Assistants (officers and assistant officers to Regional Rural Banks) governed by NABARD.

IBPS RRB Notification

Tentative calendar for the year 2018 has been released by IBPS.

  1. Officer Scale I and Office assistant: The preliminary examination will be held in the month of August on 11th, 12th, 19th, 25th and 1st of September 2018. The main exam for Scale I is on 30th September 2018 and for Office assistant, it will be on 7th October 2018.
  2. Officer Scale-II and III: There will be a single examination for this. The date of the exam is 30th September 2018.

IBPS PO

The selection process involves a preliminary examination, Main examination, group discussion, personal interview and medical test. The preliminary exam will be held in the month of October on 13th, 14th, 20th, and 21st. The Main examination will be held on 18th November 2018.

IBPS Clerk

The selection process involves a preliminary examination, Main examination, group discussion, personal interview and medical test. The preliminary exam will be held in the month of November on 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th. The main exam will be held on 20th January 2019.

IBPS Specialist Officers

The date for preliminary examination is on 29th, 30th December 2018. The main exam will be held on 27th January 2019.

The first preliminary exam will consist of 100 multiple choice questions divided into subjects of English, reasoning and quantitative aptitude. The time for the exam is 1 hour. It is an online test with 30,35,35 questions respectively. After you have cleared the preliminary examination there will be the main exam. For IBPS Clerk the main exam contains 190 multiple choice questions of 200 marks divided into four categories English, General Awareness, Reasoning ability and Computer aptitude together and Quantitative aptitude with 40 questions in English and 50 each in the other categories. The time for the exam is 160 minutes. For IBP PO the main exam consists of 155 multiple choice questions of 200 marks and 2 question each on letter writing and essay writing. The sections in the main exam consist of 45 reasoning aptitude, 40 general awareness, 35 each in English language and Data Interpretation. The time for the exam is 180 minutes and 30 minutes for the subjective English paper.

After the main exam, the shortlisted candidates need to go through a personal interview and group discussion. Based on the main exam, personal interview and the group discussion the candidates are selected. The joining of the selected candidates starts from April of 2019.
