The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) was founded by leading academicians, scientists, and media professionals with the objective of promoting science, mathematics, computer education, English, General Knowledge, and professional courses. For the last two decades, SOF has been working to promote scientific attitude and temperament through innovative activities and the use of Information Technology in the learning process that involves school students across India. SOF conducts the International English Olympiad (IEO), which is a unique examination, and first in the history of English language testing in India. The examination has been developed by a group of testing professionals who constitute the All India English Language Testing Authority (AIELTA) at The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU). Students of classes 1st to 12th are eligible to appear for the IEO. IEO Results 2017-2018
The IEO examination is conducted on three dates every year and the results are declared on the SOF official website within 45 days of the examination. Last year, the IEO examinations were held on 6th, 12th, and 24th October 2017 and the IEO 2017 results were declared on 1st December 2017. From the academic year 2017-18, the IEO has now become a two-level examination. The level two of the IEO examination is conducted for the students of Class 3 to Class 12. The students of Class 1 and 2 don’t need to appear for the second level of the examination and are ranked based on their performance in the first level of the IEO examination.
The IEO level two examinations were conducted on 11th February 2018 and the results were declared on 12th March 2018.

How to Check the IEO Results
You can follow the step-by-step procedure mentioned below to get your IEO Results 2017-2018.
- Navigate to the official IEO Results page.
- Select the ‘IEO Olympiad’ from the examination dropdown.
- Now, enter your Roll Number in the prescribed format i.e. School Code-Class-Section-Roll Number.
- Solve the simple math question at the bottom of the page.
- Now, click on the ‘View Results’ Tab.
- Your IEO Result will be displayed on the computer screen.
- Download the result and take multiple printouts for future reference.
IEO Cut-Off Marks 2017
The IEO cut-off marks are class-wise. In case more than one student scores same total marks, then the marks obtained section-wise are taken into account to determine qualifiers to the 2nd level. The weightage is given to different sections in the following manner to determine eligibility for the second level of IEO:
- Achiever’s Section
- Word & Structure Knowledge
- Reading
- Spoken & Written Expression

The above cut off marks are applicable to determine top 5% students class-wise qualifying for the IEO second level, that was held on 11th February 2018. In addition to the above, students achieving following ranks also qualify for the second level:
- Class toppers, where a minimum of ten students from a class appeared for the IEO examination.
- The top 25 class-wise rank holders from each Zone.
Criteria for Qualification for the Second Level
The students fulfilling any of the following three criteria will qualify for the second level of the IEO exams:
- The top 5% of students, class wise who appear for the 1st level exam. Due priority will be given to the marks scored in different sections.
- The top 25 zone-wise rank holders from each class.
- The class topper from each participating school where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam and scores 50% qualifying marks. In case the registration is received section wise, the students with highest marks, irrespective of the section will qualify for the 2nd For section wise registrations, the winner(s) of the gold medal may not necessarily qualify for the second level.

IEO Examination Notification 2018-19
The latest IEO 2018-19 examination notification is out and the IEO examination for the academic year 2018-19 will be conducted on 4th, 11th, and 23rd October 2018 at the participating schools.
