JEE Advanced Motion IIT JEE Paper Pattern & Analysis

Let’s talk about the pattern this year. The exam consisted of two papers conducted in two 3 hour sessions. Paper 1 was conducted in the forenoon session from 9 AM to 12 Noon & Paper 2 was conducted in the afternoon session between 2 PM to 5 PM.

Paper 1 pattern

Paper 1 conducted was asked in 10 different sets. It consisted of 54 questions & carried 186 marks overall. There were three different types of questions asked vis-a-vis Single Correct Multiple Choice, Multiple Correct Multiple Choice & Single Digit Subjective Type. Here’s the marks distribution between these three types of problems in every subject.

Paper 2 pattern

Paper 2 consisted of 54 questions as well, and carried 186 marks in all. The questions of three different types – Single correct multiple choice, Multiple correct multiple choice & Comprehension type questions. Here’s a table showing distribution of marks in each of the subject.

Overall the paper consisted of 108 questions & 372 marks. Let’s discuss the difficulty level of the question paper from each of the subjects’ point of view.

JEE Advanced – Difficulty Level

The exam this year was more difficult compared to previous year according to Motion IIT JEE.

Physics

Physics paper this year was lengthy with a few questions demanding rigorous calculations. All the topics of Physics were covered almost uniformly. Single digit subjective type questions were easiest. The cut-off is expected to be higher than last year.

Chemistry

Chemistry paper’s difficulty level varied between the three chemistry subjects vis-a-vis Physical, Organic & Inorganic chemistry. Questions in physical chemistry were tricky. Inorganic chemistry mostly asked questions that tested memory of the students. Organic chemistry was the easiest with straight forward questions.

Mathematics

Mathematics was the most difficult subject between the three parts of the question paper. Questions on calculus and vectors were difficult. Questions on coordinate geometry we’re straight forward which could be solved with direct application of formulas.

JEE Advanced Counseling

JEE Advanced results will be declared on 11th June, 2017. After the results are declared, qualifying students must be on their toes to prepare for JEE Advanced counselling. JEE Advanced counselling 2017 will be conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) from June 19 to July 18, 2017. Apart from the IITs, JoSAA 2017 will also hold counselling seat allotment for ISM Dhanbad. JEE Advanced counselling procedure includes counseling registration, choice filling, choice locking, seat allotment, reporting to allotted colleges and getting provisional admission in the allotted colleges. The counselling procedure will have 6 rounds in all. Candidates are required to carry the following documents with them for the JEE Advanced Counselling

  1. Class X certificate if the date of birth is mentioned in it OR birth certificate.
  2. Class XII (or equivalent examination) certificate (for those who appeared for this examination in 2016).
  3. If the name is not same as in the Class X certificate, gazette notification showing the change of name.
  4. OBC-NCL certificate (FORM-OBC-NCL) issued on or after April 1, 2017 and conforming to the latest guidelines of the Government of India.
  5. Caste (for SC) or tribe (for ST) certificate (FORM-SC/ST).
  6. Disability certificate (FORM-PwD [II/III/IV], which ever is applicable]) issued by a district medical board / competent authority
