About JEE Main OMR
OMR is the abbreviation for Optical Mark Recognition or Optical Mark Reader. It is an automated method of gathering information by recognizing bubbles filled using pen on a sheet. The system is a computer-controlled smart reading mechanism with hardware part (that recognizes the marks) and the software part which reads and interprets the result. The system can scan thousands of answer sheets quickly. Since everything is automated there is no scope for error or negligence.
OMR reads the light reflection to determine whether something is written on the paper or not, it is highly important that students keep the answer sheet clean. Unnecessary marks or scribble on the paper may result in declaring the sheet invalid. Additionally, reading devices can recognize darkening of the circles up to an extent. Therefore, students must use pens during JEE. Read the instructions carefully before attempting the questions. Darken the bubble completely. The candidate should not fold the OMR sheet. Do not write anything on the sheet. Replacement of OMR sheet is not done. Enough space will be provided on the question booklet for rough calculations. Fill in all the details with utmost care and attention. The candidate cannot use whitener.
