JEE Main PBT (Paper Based Test) – 2017
The most popular exam for admission into engineering colleges in India, the JEE is a two tier exam. JEE Main being the first, after which the qualifying students are eligible to take the ADVANCED exam. This year JEE MAIN paper and pen (offline) exam is on the 2nd of April. JEE Main itself is conducted in 2 modes vis-a-vis JEE Main PBT (Paper Based Test) & JEE Main CBT (Computer Based Test)
The weightage of 12th marks will not be considered this time. For the candidates to qualify for the admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST students, the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
- Age Limit: Candidate’s date of birth should fall on or after 1st October, 1992 for general seat. 1st October, 1987 for SC/ST/PwD students.
- Candidates can take the exam three times only.
- Diploma holders can also apply.
- Only one application form could be submitted.
JEE Main PBT – paper 1 will consist of math, physics and chemistry each 120 marks, which make a total of 360 marks. The JEE Main PBT – paper 2 has been divided into three parts i.e. Mathematics, Aptitude test and Drawing test. Mathematics- 120, aptitude-200, drawing-70. JEE main paper 1 is for the B.Tech (Engineering) while paper 2 is for architecture (B.Arch).

After the first tier i.e. JEE Main, successful candidates take JEE advanced to secure a place in the IITs. JEE advanced is scheduled on 21st May, 2017. Last date for JEE Advanced registration is on 2nd May, 2017 & Admit cards will be available between 10th May & 21st May.
JEE Counselling begins in the first week of July, 2017. To download their admit cards, candidates are required to provide their roll numbers and board details of 12th class or equivalent exam on the official website of JEE Main.
