JIPMER 2018 Normalisation for Merit List
Normalisation is a process for ensuring that students are neither at advantaged nor at disadvantage due to the difficulty of questions since the entrance exam is conducted in two sessions. At First, the Percentile Score for each candidate (session Wise) will be calculated. Percentile is calculated using the conventional formula. For e.g. if out of 120 student in morning session, 90 students have scored lesser aggregate marks than a candidate A, then A’s percentile score will be 75percentile. After calculating percentile of each candidate, they are sorted to make an overall merit list. In case of a tie, percentile scores, of the tied candidates, in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English & Reasoning respectively, are compared to break it. the final Merit List is prepared after resolving these ties.
