About JIPMER
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research or JIPMER originated as École de Médicine de Pondichérry established by the French Government in the year 1823. This medical school was converted into Dhanvantari Medical College at the time of de facto transfer of Pondicherry to Government of India. This Medical College was later upgraded into Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER).
JIPMER is another major institute than AIIMS to have refused to become a part of NEET. This is since under the Medical Council of India Act of 1956, JIPMER is identified as an autonomous medical institute that can award medical degrees including MBBS & MDS autonomously. AIIMS had specifically said that becoming a part of NEET entrance procedure will bring down the level of AIIMS MBBS entrance exam.
JIPMER 2017 is scheduled to take place of 4th June, 2017. JIPMER applications started from 27th March, 2017. The JIPMER results will be out tentatively around 19th June, 2017. Over a week after the results are declared, JIPMER counselling is likely to begin. Counselling for JIPMER will be done in 3 separate rounds before admissions. JIPMER counselling first round is presumed to begin from 27th June, 2017. Second round of JIPMER counselling will begin from 19th July, 2017. Third & the final round of JIPMER counselling will begin from 23rd August, 2017.
