Founded in 1965, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, formerly known as Kanpur University, is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Kalyanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Officially accredited by the University Grants Commission, India, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJM) is a coeducational higher education institution. It offers courses and programs such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Several academic and non-academic facilities and services include a library, sports facilities and/or activities, as well as administrative services. The campus is spread over a sprawling 264 acres. The residential wing of the campus includes faculties of Life Sciences, Business Management, Education, and English. It has a Computer Centre, a Department of Adult and Continuing Education, Communication and a College Development Council. For catering to the needs of young engineering aspirants, the university has an Institute of Engineering and Technology in the campus offering courses in engineering: Chemical, Computer Science and Information, Mechanical Engineering.

Kanpur University Admissions
The admission to most of the courses is based on the entrance test conducted by the University and the UPSEE 2017 examination for the rest of the courses. The application processes for the programmes begin in two phases for different courses from the months of March and April, respectively and get over by the end of May. The reservation criteria are based on the Uttar Pradesh government rules.
