Language Options for JEE:
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is the gateway to the most prestigious engineering colleges and institutes in the country – the IITs, the NITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes. It is conducted in two phases – JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced). The IITs and ISM grant admission based on the results of JEE (Advanced). The NITs, IIITs and other central or state-funded institutes grant admission based on JEE (Main).
Students are eligible to write JEE (Advanced) only if they clear the cutoff marks in JEE (Main). Also, JEE is considered as one of the toughest exams in the world. With the popularity of engineering as a career, it is no surprise that every year, lakhs of students appear for this exam, precisely over 14 Lakh students, and only 20,000 get a rank.
While there are several barriers for a student in a diverse country like ours for not all institutions follow a set benchmark for education. Language becomes the paramount problem in this chaos for most high schools prefer the medium of education as the language which is popular in the region and spoken by the masses. When students appear for national level entrance exams such as JEE, they are only provided with a few options which could sometime be a pothole in the road for many.
Here are the language options for JEE:
- The JEE Main paper is printed predominantly in 2 languages viz. English and Hindi.
- The examination center cities for JEE in Gujarat, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli have a third option of Gujarati. Therefore, we can say that Main paper comes in a total of 3 languages namely, English, Hindi and Gujarati, where Gujarati option is region limited.
- The paper for those candidates opting for English language for JEE will come completely in English, but the candidates opting for Hindi will get the paper in both English as well as Hindi.
- There are only two language options for JEE (Advanced) i.e. either Hindi or English. No other language option is available.
