There isn’t any fixed syllabus when it comes to law entrance exams. But there are a lot of different papers specially meant for the entrance tests of the LLB and LLM courses. For instance, when it comes to LLB course entrance tests, the exam checks your English, mathematics, general mental ability (reasoning), general knowledge, legal reasoning and also legal aptitude. However, many other exams create questions only for legal reasoning while some others stress on legal reasoning and legal aptitude. Law Entrance Exam Syllabus – Overview

Generally, students who want to get admission in the three-year law programme would be tested on the subjects mentioned below.

Law Entrance Exam Syllabus – Subjects

Candidates waiting to appear for the various law tests can get the complete details on the subjects in this section.

Mathematical Aptitude – This section is primarily related to class 10th mathematics including topics like time and work, average, algebra, numerical ability, Venn diagram, profit and loss and speed, distance. The main objective of having this section is testing the law aspirants’ interest in mathematics.

Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning – This would include questions about legal aptitude pertaining to the problem-solving aptitude of the students. The questions would be as per the legal propositions and facts to which the propositions need to be applied by the examinees. A lot of the given propositions may not be true in the real sense, but students need to assume the facts of these propositions (propositional truth) and then answer the questions drawing well-supported conclusions accordingly.

Logical and Analytical Reasoning – This section tests a candidate’s ability over logical links, rectifying illogical arguments and identifying patterns. It includes a lot of completing arguments, reasoning by analogies, drawing well-supported conclusions, applying principles, and rules and wide analogies. It would also require students to go through reasoning from a set of statements and rules and principles that describe the relationship between persons, things or events.

General Knowledge/Current Affairs – This section includes topics like Geography, General science, civics, History (Ancient, Medieval and Modern) and economics. The main objective of including this section is testing a student’s knowledge about the latest news/happenings in the world.

English with Comprehension – This section covers many areas including English usage errors (common errors, inappropriate usage of words, spotting errors in sentence, spelling mistakes etc., improvement and rearrangement of sentences, one word substitution, English comprehension and passages and Proficiency (idioms and phrases), improvement and rearrangement of sentences, fill in the blanks etc.
