Masters in Business Administration, or popularly shortened as MBA, is probably the most sought after professional course that has had a fruitful legacy behind it. It is the dream of every student who wishes to make a mark in the corporate sector, which has an immense pool of opportunities open to the most vibrant management aspirants.
An MBA holder has numerous advantages over a non-MBA student when one tries to crack an interview for a high profile job. Usually an MBA candidate is preferred over the one who does not have an MBA degree for such jobs. It is not just the certificate that counts, being an MBA means a student is equipped with top of the line skills and knowledge which he has gathered during his time in MBA. It is imperative to consider the importance and significance of this coveted degree.
Advantages of MBA in IIT
A lot of universities offer MBA nowadays. These universities vary in nature in terms of the course curriculum. Some of these universities offer regular courses, while some of them have the option to pursue MBA as a distance course. So how does it matter to do MBA from a reputed college? The answer is, during the time of getting placed, most of the companies look for candidates who have a degree from a reputed college. This is because they know that the good colleges impart state of the art education along with appropriate industrial training to the students which in turn helps them to be an efficient professional with a repertoire of widespread management skills. When it comes to reputed colleges. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is the first name that comes to everyone’s mind. An IIT pass out has numerous advantages over the others. Getting an MBA degree from an IIT raises a student’s chance to secure a rewarding job in a high profile company.
Eligibility to get admission for MBA in IIT
Like every other college, IITs also have their set of protocols for students to meet in order to secure a place for MBA in IIT. The eligibility criteria for MBA in IIT are as follows:
- For Regular Candidates
I. Regular candidates must have a valid CAT score in order to be eligible for admission. Along with their CAT score, their selection will be judged on their GDPA, or group discussion and personal interview, performance.
II. The IIT graduates who have a CGPA score of 8 or above on 10 need not have a valid CAT score. They get through directly to the GDPI process which determines their admission.
- For Sponsored Candidates
Sponsored candidates may be of two types: a) company sponsored candidates; b) defense personnel
I. Aspiring candidates who are sponsored by their employees may pursue MBA from an IIT as well. Candidates should submit their application via the proper channel. They should have a work experience of at least 2 years with their employer and a good score in a national entrance test like CAT/XAT/MAT etc.
II. Defense personnel do not have to go through any national level entrance test. They can apply through respective government agencies.
III. All the sponsored candidates will have to appear for the GDPI process along with the regular candidates, which will determine their final selection in the program.
- For NRI and foreign candidates
Selection of these candidates will be based on their GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score, letters of reference, academic record, and work experience (if any)
They have to submit their citizenship related documents acquired from the Indian Embassy of their residing countries.
- Minimum educational qualifications for every candidate
I. Any graduate with a minimum score of 60% from any recognized university can apply.
II. Final year graduates can also apply. These candidates, if selected, will be admitted on a provisional basis. They will have to produce the provisional certificate from the university where they have completed their graduation from within two months of joining.
