In view of the coronavirus pandemic, we are making LIVE CLASSES and VIDEO CLASSES completely FREE to prevent interruption in studies

We already have – thanks to technology, development, skills, the efficiency of our work – enough resources to satisfy all human needs. But we don’t have enough resources, and we are unlikely ever to have, to satisfy human greed” said a wise Polish sociologist. The words of Zygmunt Bauman certainly stand true in the world that has animals possessing human qualities and vice versa. There is sufficiency in the world for man’s need but never for man’s greed.

However, greed for certain things can always be justified. For instance, man’s want for advancement in technology has reached such a level that we can’t even think of spending a day without putting it into use. It has indubitably been a necessity today. If you want to order food, buy something, plan a trip and most importantly learn a new thing, technology would be the most loyal friend you have. As per the traditional beliefs, education could never be possible without teachers or textbooks. But fortunately, technology has proved it all wrong. Today, technology has made it possible for students to sit back at home and learn anything and everything that interests them.

One such product of man’s want for advancement is the invention and then the development in mobile phones. Man today, is running behind technology to bring a change in the world. The root behind such developments is Education. It can be used as the most powerful weapon to change the world. An educated mind has the freedom to cross all sorts of limits. There is no end to knowledge. Similarly, there is not end to the modes of gaining education.

Mobile phones, that most of the grown-ups find to be a distraction in the studies of their children have, on contrary been proved to be the next big thing in education. For instance, around ten years ago, one would have to slog through a heavy volume of the Oxford dictionary to find out the meaning of a word. We have come to the era when the same job can be done in a matter of seconds using any dictionary app on a Smartphone. Teachers today are of the belief that if we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob children of tomorrow.

This is a small example of how a whole world of possibilities is fabricated on a microchip. Leveraging this potential through mobiles, which is known as one of the most widely used e-learning tool, that fits into our pockets has brought about dramatic transformations within the domain of education. In education, technology can be a life-changer, for kids who are both in school and out of school. Technology can bring textbooks to life.

Search engines like Google have brought down the time to retrieve information to microseconds. This enables us to work in the interstices in our schedules which we otherwise tend to just let slip by unproductively. You may read an article or two while traveling, or enjoy an e-book while waiting for a friend at a coffee shop.

For students, understanding a particular topic in no time with the aid of Youtube lectures or doing some last minute revision on mobiles is what mobile education is about. Whether your child wants to have a improve their vocabulary before appearing for an English exam, or if they want to look up for the recent news headlines before appearing for an economics exam, a mobile phone is all you need. You can even carry all your notes in your cell phone and utilize your traveling time to the examination hall. There is no doubt in the fact that technology can never replace teachers, but technology in the hands of right teachers can bring great transformations.

When schools tell students to put technology away, it’s like asking a doctor to save a life with one hand tied behind his back. School students also benefit from content designed to supplement classroom teaching. While at the graduate level the curriculum is far more flexible, and the students find mobile-learning to be of great use to cater to the academic needs as well as in taking up various skill enhancement and vocational courses like language courses, personality development courses, and job mentoring services. For instance, with the help of applications like Duolingo, one may learn an entirely alien language taking baby steps. With the help of mobile learning platforms, this can be done without burning a hole in your pocket paying a hefty fee at a foreign language school or missing out on academics in order to attend additional classes.

Another section of students which benefits heavily from this learning platform consists of those preparing for competitive exams. Plenty of apps featuring content on quantitative aptitude, reasoning, and general knowledge enable the aspirants to approach these exams in a planned and guided manner. It helps those who may already be working to take time out without having to juggle between their jobs and preparation. You have news apps with content optimized for e-reading making it convenient for all those who find it hard to go through the daily newspapers.

However, there are many causes of concern that come along with mobile education. The continued engagement with mobile phones is more often than not found to be a reason of distraction for students. The social networking sites and tempting gaming pop-ups are indeed the culprits, but the availability of huge volumes of content is no less guilty. Identifying and Organizing content based on relevance is very important if one does not want to end up wasting time browsing through obsolete WebPages.

Like many of the new technologies introduced in the recent years, mobile education has its own pros and cons. It is a matter of how you use it to your advantage that matters. Con: It is an impersonal mode of learning. Turn it into a Pro: If a teacher uses mobile education to strengthen their social interactions. Con: That distracting icon called ‘Facebook’ is just a click away. Turn it into a Pro:  Reward yourself with some facebook time after you successfully complete a chapter. This is a win-win situation as you look forward to that reward after studying vigorously till that chapter is over. It is no what technology does to us; it is what we do to technology. Get smart with technology, choose wisely and use it in a way that benefits both you and those around you.

According to Christian beliefs, the great God Jesus Christ once said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” Indeed! Life can never be measured by how much you own, rather by how much you have in you. The possession of materialistic assets does not define you. The amount of humanity, generosity and the knowledge you carry with yourself where ever you go is what justifies man’s greed. For once, let us all be greedy for things such as humanity, generosity, education and knowledge. When men in the country today do not deny the advancement in technology, then even should walk hand in hand with them and gain all the benefits provided to us.
