NEET 2017 Official Answer Key

NEET 2017 was held on 7th of May, Sunday across 104 cities in the country. The exam was conducted from 10 am to 1 pm. Appearance in NEET 2017 will be counted as first attempt. The increase in the number of candidates registering for the NEET exam is around 41% this year. There were more than two thousand two hundred (2200) examination centers in the country. The Indian and OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) students were eligible to appear for the NEET examination. The candidate had to be between 17 to 25 years of age to be able to apply for the NEET examination. In this article, we will discuss the NEET 2017 official answer key.

NEET 2017 Official Answer Key – How to View?

The publication of the answer key is a humongous task involving discussions with highly qualified people and solving the controversial questions. After deciding the exact answers to all the questions, the Central Board of Secondary Education shall release the official key. Many other coaching institutes have already provided the tentative answers to all the questions that were asked in the examination. But, candidates must cross verify their responses with the official key before forming opinions of their results. NEET 2017 question paper had only objective type questions. Each question consisted of 4 responses, wherein, candidates had to choose the most appropriate answer from the given options. Questions were based on NEET syllabus as prescribed by CBSE, the exam conducting authority.

The paper was available in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu. The candidates had to mark their responses on an OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheet using a blue or a black ball point pen. Pens were provided in the examination centers itself. All the rough calculations were supposed to be done in the question paper booklet.

NEET Qualification Criteria

According to the official prospectus of NEET, in order to qualify NEET 2017, a candidate belonging to unreserved category has to secure a minimum of 50thpercentile in NEET, while, a SC/ST/OBC candidate has to obtain 40th percentile. In respect to physically handicapped candidate, the minimum percentile is 45th.

NEET 2017 Results

The NEET 2017 results will be announced tentatively on 8th June, 2017.  The result will be declared in the form of score card consisting of candidate’s name, percentile secured, 15% All India Quota cut off score, result status and All India Rank (AIR) etc. The images of OMR Sheet and Responses captured by the machine will be displayed on the official website. Officials mentioned that as nearly 12 lakh students wrote the exam, uploading all the OMR sheets isn’t an easy task.  Every OMR sheet is assessed, examined and scanned. These sheets are then linked to the respective roll numbers. At times some sheets are not scanned because of extensive blurring and dark pens. These sheets then further take time. The dates of display have not yet been released. After the announcement of the NEET 2017 results, the counselling procedure for admission to various medical and dental colleges in the country for the academic year 2017-18 will begin. The students are selected to colleges based on their rankings and merit.

It might be worthwhile to mention that it is not easy to reach CBSE officials for any comment on NEET 2017.
