Punjab Board Result 2018- Important Dates

The Punjab School Education Board conducted the PSEB Class 10 Examination 2018 from March 12th March to 31st March 2018 and the PSEB Class 12 Examination 2018 from February 28th to March 24th, 2018. You can check the Punjab Board result 2018 through the online mode only.

The Punjab Board class 10 results are likely to be declared in the month of May/June and the Punjab Board class 12 results are likely to be declared by 28th April 2018.

From the above table, we can observe that the overall pass percentage of the Punjab Board class 10 results have gone down from 72.25% in 2014 to 57.50% in 2017. It can also be seen that the girl students have outperformed the boy students year after year for the last four years.

Last year, Shruti Vora scored 98.77% and secured the 1st position in the Punjab Board Class 10 Examination. A total of 3,30,437 students appeared for the examination, out of which 1,90,001 students qualified while 45,734 students failed and 94,271 students re-appeared for the examination.

Now, let’s take a look at the past statistics of the Punjab Board Class 12 Results.

Just like the Class 10 results, the girls have been outperforming the boys in the Punjab Board class 12 results also. In 2017, a total of 3,14,815 students appeared for the Punjab Board Class 12 examination and the total pass percentage was 62.36% for the students from the regular mode and open mode. As mentioned earlier, the girls outshone the boys and scored an overall pass percentage of 72.59% while only 54.42% of the boys could qualify. Miss Amisha topped the Punjab Board Class 12 examination by scoring a whopping 98.44% marks while Prabhjot stood second with a close 98.22%. Miss Ria from Gurdaspur district secured a respectable 98% marks and claimed the third position.

Last year, the commerce stream students scored a pass percentage of 76.64%, followed by the Science stream at 73.74%, Vocational by 63.03%, and Humanities with 57.33%. The maximum number of students appeared in the humanities group i.e. 2,16,097 students, out of which, 1,23,879 were successful. The pass percentage for General English was 75.53%, for Mathematics 86.74%, and for History, it was 83.24%.

About the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB)

The PSEB was formed through a legislative enactment in November 1969 to monitor the development and promotion of school education in the state of Punjab. In 1987, the Vidhan Sabha amended the Board’s Act and granted autonomy to PSEB. The Board’s area of operations is very wide and covers almost all the aspects of school education in the state of Punjab. The Board is responsible for conducting public examinations at the Middle, Matriculation, and the Senior Secondary Level. The Board prescribes the curriculum, courses of studies, and textbooks for school education and has a full-fledged academic wing. It also acts as a regulatory body in the state for drafting and implementing education policies in the affiliated institutions. PSEB arranges for the preparations, compilation, improvement, publication, printing, and sale of textbooks. It makes all the necessary arrangements for the affiliations of schools to the Board and makes the necessary efforts to bring about qualitative improvement in school education. The Board also acts as an advisory body to the state Government regarding School Education.
