This scholarship can be availed by students who come from strained economic backgrounds, where the family income is not more than Rs. 1.5 lac in a month, from all sources taken into account. This scholarship, however, can only be availed by candidates who clear the NMMS scholarship examination. There is a tough competition in these examinations where a general category has to score at least 40% in both the two sections of the exam and an SC or ST category candidate has to score at least 32% in both the two sections. The exams are conducted annually and any needy student who is studying in class IX can sit for the exam. Candidates who qualify for this scholarship are awarded Rs. 500 in a month, which stands at an annual sum of Rs. 6000. This is one of the premiere most scholarship Karnataka, that any meritorious student can avail.

To curb the rising level of dropouts in the higher secondary level, Karnataka offers its students quite a few numbers of beneficial scholarships. This scholarship caters to all the minority communities of Karnataka and this scholarship programme was flagged off very recently in 2017. A student has to belong to one of the minority communities of the state like Muslim, Jain, Buddhist, Christians, Parsis etc. The student needs to have at least 50% marks in the last annual examination that they had appeared for. Students of both classes IX and X as well as the one registered in post graduation and graduation courses are eligible for applying for this scholarship Karnataka. The student has to be a domicile or original resident of Karnataka and the family income of the applying student cannot exceed Rs. 2 lac a year.
