As the English saying goes, “All work and no Play makes Jack a Dull boy.” It has been forgotten that academic learning and sports education complement each other. They resemble the two sides of the same coin. If sports education is carried out accompanied with the academic curriculum, the overall personality of the student is increased to quite an extent. The qualities of the leadership, sharing, team spirit and tolerance are all learnt from sports.

Just like a building cannot be built in a day, one cannot excel in a field like Sports in a short span of time. One needs to be good at it since early childhood. If you believe you have the passion for a sport, go ahead with your talent and excel, so that others may value you and your priorities. The importance of sports is realized worldwide. If you are good at it, show it off. All you need to do is keep practicing and participating. Even the top educational universities today have a Sports/ECA Quota for admission into academics. All they need is a proof for your passion i.e. you participation into various state level competitions and many others.

With sports being introduced in educational curriculum managing, it has become a very important aspect. Sports education thus should be taken up on the war footing at schools, colleges and educational institutions for the all-round development of the person which will help them immensely in their lives ahead, even in academics. Parents need to realize this and keep nourishing their children with positivity for their child’s talent.

Various Universities offers admissions to various undergraduate programmes through Sports and ECA Quota to candidates who wish to enrol in the respective colleges. Sports Quota aids you with gauging chances of getting enrolled in top colleges even if you have a percentage lower than cut-off marks. Aspirants need to fill in Sports and ECA Quota Application Form, in addition to the Online Registration-cum-Application Form, if applying against the quotas. The aspirants might have to pay an additional application form fee for the Sports / ECA Quota Applications.

As per official notification of various universities, the colleges affiliated to the respective universities notify the number of seats under Sports Quota on their college website well in advance, i.e.; before the pre-registration schedule of the undergraduate programmes as announced by the University. There are always limited number of seats for admission into colleges through Sports/ECA Quota. As an example, Delhi University reserves not more than 5% of the total intake in each course under the sports and ECA quotas.

Every university has its own procedures and guidelines for admitting students under the Sports/ECA Quota. For instance, in Delhi University, There are two categories under which the university admits students on the basis of Sports Quota –

The candidates availing Sports Quota under this category need Sports Certificates which will be awarded a maximum of 50 marks, a maximum of 50 marks for Sports Trials which include skill test, game performance test, game specific fitness and fundamentals of the game.

For Delhi University, one can avail the Sports/ECA Quota Application Form through the same online application form of application.
