The Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology University has grown by leaps and bounds in the last five decades. In 1985, UGC bestowed the institute with the status of a deemed university. Today, it is recognized as one of the leading privately-managed engineering institutes of the country and the best of its kind in the north-western region of India. It offers academic programmes at the UG level leading to B.E. /B. Tech degree, at the PG level leading to MCA, MSc, MBA, ME/M. Tech degrees, and at the doctoral level, Ph.D. & Dsc degrees. The campus has six academic blocks and six hostels for boys, replete with all modern amenities like gym, reading room, common room, etc. It also boasts of an in-house market, COS (Cultural-Open-Air sports) complex, which has a variety of shops where one can eat, drink, get their laundry done and buy stationery items. Founded in 1984 as Shanmugha College of Engineering, the university was later renamed as SHANMUGHA Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA). It is nestled in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, which is renowned for its UG and PG engineering programmes. In 2011, TCS hired 1755 students from SASTRA, making it a world record for the largest recruitment by any company from a single campus. The campus has a built-up area of over 2,00,000 square metre and is spread over 232 acres. With over 10,000 students and 700 teaching faculty, it is a landmark in the educational map of India. SASTRA offers various UG and PG courses in Engineering, Science, Education, Management, Law and Arts, besides various Doctoral programs.
As a testimony to the excellent standards of its programs, SASTRA has been re-accredited with Grade ‘A’ (maximum) by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC), a statutory body of UGC.
National Institute of Technology (NIT-W) is a public engineering institute located in Warangal, Telangana. Formerly known as the Regional Engineering College, Warangal (RECW), the college was the first among the 17 Regional Engineering Colleges established in India. It was later renamed as National Institute of Technology, Warangal in September 2002. The institute offers eight UG programs (B. Tech.) in engineering, twenty- nine PG programs ( M. Tech, M.Sc., MCA & MBA) in engineering, sciences and management and research programs in engineering, sciences, humanities, physical education and management. It has a strong reputation for its Research & Development, Industrial Consultancy, Continuous Education and Training Programs for teachers and technical personnel. The institute boasts of thirteen academic departments and 100 laboratories. The campus has 20 hostel blocks for men and 2 for women. It also has a host of facilities like conference halls, innovation centre, Banks & ATMs, library, medical, post office, shopping complex, sports facilities, thus making it one of the top colleges affiliated to JEE Main.
Ever since its establishment in 1964, the institute has witnessed a rapid growth. Situated in a sprawling area of 800 acres, it currently offers UG courses in ten branches and PG courses in twenty-one disciplines of Science, Engineering, and Technology besides M.S. (by research) & Ph. D. in all the departments. The hallmark of the campus is the excellent facilities that cater to the academic and extra-curricular interests of the students. NIT Surathkal is a premier institute known for its undergraduate as well as post-graduate courses. It was founded on 6th August 1960. It has a lush green 295-acre campus, which is self-sufficient in every aspect. The college is known for attracting students from all over the world and offers state-of-the- art facilities that ensure opportunities for the overall development of individuals. NIT Surathkal ranks among the top colleges of engineering in Karnataka in terms of placement. Some of the institute’s best practices include Remedial Coaching Classes for students with less exposure, a Hindi Section, Workshop on Workplace Sensitisation, Professional Skill Enhancement Programme, etc.
One of the top colleges affiliated to JEE Main, the institute was established on June 26, 1961, as a joint enterprise of the Central government and government of Uttar Pradesh. The campus spreads over 222 acres on the bank of river Ganga. In 1972, the college established an industrial estate with 68 sheds with the objective of encouraging entrepreneurs and creating additional revenue. The institute offers nine B. Tech., nineteen M. Tech. Degree Programs, MCA, MBA, M.Sc. (Mathematics & Scientific Computing) & Master of Social Work programs. It also registers candidates for the Ph. D. Degree. The Government of India has recognized the institute as one of the centres for the Quality Improvement Programme for M. Tech. & Ph. D.
Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), is a premier government university located in New Delhi, India. It was established as Delhi Polytechnic in 1941 and is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India and Delhi’s first engineering college. It was renamed as “Delhi College of Engineering” in 1965. DTU offers courses in B. Tech., M. Tech., Ph. D and MBA and has fourteen academic programs with an emphasis on scientific & technological education and research. The college regularly organises cultural and educational festivals. While the cultural festivals are a break from studies and comprise events such as music concerts and fashion shows, the academic festivals form a common platform for students and academicians across the country to showcase their talent.
