The medical school offers MBBS, post graduate/residency degrees of MS, MD and super specialty/sub-specialty fellowship degrees of M.Ch and DM. It has attached schools offering degrees in nursing and pharmacy. The MAMC campus houses Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Hospital and also has the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences.

The Lady Harding Medical College has the unique distinction of being the only Medical College in India that exclusively trains female students. The college was founded by Lady Harding of Penhurst, the wife of the then Viceroy of India, in order to overcome the orthodox trends prevailing in the contemporary India.

  1. University College of Medical Science

UCMS is ranked among top institutes in PubMed journal index. The college offers medical & paramedical courses. It was the first Indian medical college to start a Medical Humanities Group. UCMS also organized the first ever ‘Theater of the Oppressed’ workshop for medical students in India in 2011.

The college was established in 1971 as a Constituent College of University of Delhi. Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital is the associated teaching hospital with 1000 beds. It is one of the three public trauma center in Delhi in addition to Susruta Trauma Centre and Jai Prakash Narayana Trauma Center at AIIMS and is fully equipped with burns ward.

It is known for its quality research and ranked 7th based on the number of publications in PubMed indexed journals.

  1. Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College

Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) is attached with the famous Safdarjang Hospital for clinical teaching. The college is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The college began on a very modest note with infrastructure carved out of the portions of the Safdarjang Hospital; today it is housed in a state of the art, centrally air-conditioned building.

It has a separate Library building with excellent collection of Medical books, Journals and Internet facility. It has a very competent faculty in the pre/para-clinical and clinical disciplines in addition to medical infrastructure. Until the inception of All India Institute of Medical Science, Safdarjung Hospital was the only tertiary care hospital in South Delhi.

The college has been ranked 19 by outlook magazine in its survey of best medical colleges.

  1. Nehru Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital

NHMC&H is affiliated to University of Delhi since 1992 and imparts 5 ½ years undergraduate BHMS course and 3 years post graduate MD (Hom.) course in two disciplines – namely, Practice of Medicine and Organon of Medicine.

It was established in 1963 by Late Padama Bhushan Awardee Dr. Yudhvir Singh, a great social worker, freedom fighter & pioneer Homoeopath of India. Since then, the institution has come a long way in adding new dimensions to the Homoeopathic Education.  All the medical facilities in the institution are free of cost to the public. It is ranked among best colleges in Delhi by various magazines.

  1. Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College

A & U Tibbia College and Hospital is a historical institute in India.  It was started as `Madarsa Tibbia` in 1889 and later on this Madarsa Tibbia was converted and re-established in new building at Karol Bagh 1916.  This institution was inaugurated by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on 13th Feb.1921.

The college is affiliated to the University of Delhi since 1973. It provides 4 ½ years regular course of study followed by one year internship leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor-of-Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) and Bachelor-of-Unani Medicine & Surgery (BUMS). There are 28 Departments (14 Dept. for each system) and a Hospital with 150 beds attached to the College where practical training is given to the students. The Post–Graduate Courses (M.D) were started in 2002.

The college is located in a busy area off the D.B. Gupta Road. Although located in a very noisy area, the college seems to be quiet and gives you a sense of being far away from the city.

  1. Army college of Medical Sciences

ACMS is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. It was established in 2008.

It offers 4 ½ year MBBS degree course. The colleges is only for wards of serving and retired Army persons and SC/ST/PH only. The admission is through NEET and the annual intake is 100.

  1. Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute

Established in 1953, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI) is a unique medical institution devoted to research, teaching and patient care in the field of chest diseases in particular. It is affiliated to University of Delhi and located in the north campus.

P. Chest Institute has all the infrastructure needed for its students to pursue academic studies and research. Apart from library and hostel, the institute also has an animal house, publication unit, medical photographic studio and a canteen.
