West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). The board came into recognition in the year 1962, whose prime motto was to conduct common entrance examinations for undergraduate level engineering courses in West Bengal.
The Common Entrance Examination is conducted for admissions to professional undergraduate and postgraduate level courses offered in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, Medical, Dental and Architecture in Universities, Government Colleges as well as Self Financing Engineering & Technological Institutes in the State of West Bengal.
Candidates seeking admissions in one of these colleges in West Bengal can apply for the UG and PG courses through the online process of counselling.
As per the official WBJEEB website, the application process for WBJEE 2019 will tentatively begin from the 1st week of January, 2019. The WBJEE 2019 exam is supposed to be held on April, 22nd.
WBJEE Counselling 2019 Schedule Dates (Tentative)
The results of the exam will be published on the official website tentatively in the month of July, 2019. The students who wish to take admissions in the UG and PG courses can fill their choice according to their rank when the process of counselling begins. There are approximately 36,000 seats vacant in total for the board to allot the seats to candidates for the admission process. The process of registration for counselling, creating passwords and fee submission will begin tentatively in the month of July, 2019. Candidates can fill their choice during this period, and the automatic locking of choice will take place after the choice filling is done on a preassigned date, in the month of July, as decided by the board. This is the first stage of admission process.

After the choice locking, the candidates who have filled their choice will be eligible for the counselling process for WBJEE, 2019. There will be basically three rounds of counselling to allow the students to get admission to their desired college based on their ranks.
Round wise WBJEE 2019 Counselling Schedule
- There will be three rounds in WBJEE 2019 Counselling
- Candidates’ online registration will be valid for the three rounds of WBJEE 2019 Counselling only
- WBJEE Board may conduct the fourth round for WBJEE 2019 Counselling in case if there are vacant seats left in the colleges. Students may have to register afresh for new rounds of counselling as per the guidelines of Board.
The three rounds of counselling are described as under:-
1. First round of counselling: –
After the choices of registered candidates for e-counselling 2019 are locked, the total number of seats (36000) will be allotted to such candidates depending upon their rank vis-à-vis choice given. After the allotted candidates report to their concerned reporting centres, a list for the vacant seats is generated for the purpose of a second round of counselling.
- Second round of counselling:-
These vacant seats will be allotted from amongst the remaining un-allotted candidates and up-gradation of choices amongst the allotted candidates will also take place. However, the upgraded candidates need not report to the Reporting Centre again if they do not want to change the choice of upgradation from yes to no. After fresh allottees complete their reporting at concerned reporting centres and vacant seats are generated a thereof 3rd round of allotment is made. - Third round of counselling:-
These vacant seats will be allotted from amongst the remaining un-allotted candidates and up-gradation of choices amongst the allotted candidates will also take place. Again the upgraded candidates need not report to the Reporting Centre again if they do not want to change the choice of upgradation from yes to no.
The different steps involving the process of counselling are:-
- WBJEE 2019 Online Registration & Fee Payment
- All WBJEE 2019 qualified candidates have to enter their WBJEE 2019 Roll No, Application No, Name, and Date of Birth for getting themselves registered for WBJEE 2019.
- After registering successfully for the WBJEE 2019 counselling, candidates have to download the e-challan for paying the non-refundable counselling fee of 500. Counselling fee does not include any service charges levied by the bank. Candidates may have to pay the bank charges as applicable.
- After paying the fee for WBJEE 2019 counselling, candidates have to enter the e-challan payment details.
Note: Bank E-Challan Receipt must be kept safe by the candidate as it will be required for furnishing Admission Process at the WBJEE 2019 Reporting Centre. - After fee Payment, Identity Code and Password will be created for the candidate
- Candidates must be very careful while filling and submitting all their personal, educational and fee-related details as after submitting the details, no changes or modifications can be made in the data entered.
- WBJEE 2019 Choice filling and locking
- Candidates can fill their choices of colleges and branches for WBJEE 2019 counseling according to their ranks in WBJEE 2019.
- Candidates who are eligible for both WBJEE 2019 can submit a single set of choices either against WBJEE 2019.
- Candidates need to register, fill choices and locking of choices only once for all the three rounds of WBJEE 2019 counselling. No in between registration will be accepted by the WBJEE Board for counseling.
- Candidates must take a printout of their choices for WBJEE 2019 Counselling after locking them.
- Seat Allocation for the WBJEE 2019 Counselling will be against the available vacancies (as per the Seat Matrix received from the DTE, West Bengal) and the candidate’s choice/preference.
- WBJEE 2019 seat allotment
- WBJEE 2019 Seat Allotment will be done on the basis of the General Merit Rank (GMR) obtained by a candidate in WBJEE 2019.
- The locked choices of the candidates will also be taken into consideration against the vacant seats remain after different rounds of WBJEE 2019 Seat Allotment.
- Candidates must download and print the WBJEE 2019 Seat Allotment letters.
- Students, who will withdraw themselves from any of the three rounds of WBJEE 2019 Counselling, will not be allowed to participate again till the fourth round of WBJEE 2019 Counselling. In the third round, such candidates may be given a chance to obtain admissions on the basis of the vacancies
- Document Verification and Fee Payment at Reporting Centres:
Candidates must get their below-mentioned documents verified at the specified reporting centres and have to pay the prescribed fee in form of a DD drawn in favour of WBJEE 2019 payable at Kolkata.

WBJEE 2019 counselling fee:-
- Fee for Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW): Rs. 4000
- Fees for University/Government Institute: Rs. 5000
- State Funded Institutions (SFI): Rs. 20,000
Some important points to keep in mind before choice filling:-
- Before locking the choices, the candidates may change it as many times as they wish. However, once the deadline to submit the choices is over, the candidates will not be able to amend it.
- The facility to submit the choices for the institute and the courses will only be provided in the first round of WBJEE 2019 counselling.
- The online portal will display the choices as per the eligibility of the candidates. Eligibility here means if they are eligible for PMR or GMR or both.
- Even if the candidates are eligible for both the WBJEE 2019 rank list, they will be required to submit only a single set of priorities.
- TFW candidates have the liberty to apply for the TFW, as well as normal seats. They may also submit the choice in any order priority.

Important points:-
a.) Candidates have to register online through the link at www. wbjeeb.in, provided the necessary information, and pay Rs. 500/- as registration fee by debit card/ credit card/net banking and download the registration form.
b.) Candidates must report at the counseling venue on the specific date before the reporting timeslot stipulated for her/him. Candidates reporting late will not be considered under any circumstances.
c.) Candidates need to carry with them the documents and their self-attested copies as listed above.
d.) Candidates have to also carry Rs. 6000/- in cash to immediately pay the admission fee if selected.
e.) Candidates will be called for counseling in a sequence of their GMR.
f.) On successful verification of documents, the candidate will be allotted a seat according to his/her order of choice/ preference and availability of the seat at that instant.
g.) Once a seat is allotted, the candidate has to pay immediately Rs. 6000/- as provisional admission fee. If the candidate fails to pay within a reasonable time, his/her provisional admission will be canceled. The candidate has to pay the provisional admission fee even if he/she has already taken admission in another branch in the same institute.
h.) If the candidate has already taken admission in any of the eight Govt. Engineering colleges, the earlier admission will be immediately canceled and the seat, thus falling vacant, will be offered to next candidates.
i.) The vacant seat matrix is hence dynamic. Decentralized counseling will start with the initial vacancy list. But as the process continues, old vacancies are to fill up and new vacancies may come up. A candidate will be offered seats on the basis of vacancies available to her/him at that instant.
j.) SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD candidates will be allowed the lower limit of qualifying academic criteria as described in the Information Bulletin of WBJEE-2017. But there is no reservation of seats in decentralized counselling. All candidates will be called in accordance with their General Merit Rank.
