The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination or WBJEE is a centralized state government-controlled test. The WBJEE, conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board, gives admission to UG courses in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Medical, Dental and Pharmacy at various Universities and Colleges in the state of West Bengal.
In 2017, approximately 1.27 lakh students appeared for the WBJEE Engineering entrance exam (for the 36,263 seats) and around 1.58 lakh took the Pharmacy entrance exam (for the 1085 seats). Eligibility Criteria for WBJEE 2018
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen and should have domicile of West Bengal.
- The applicant must be 17 years old as on or 31st December of the year of admission. However, for the Marine Engineering course, the minimum age is 17 years, and the maximum age is 25 years.
- The candidate must have appeared or passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from state or central board of education.
- The candidate must have secured minimum 45% aggregate marks in the 12th examination (40% for reserved category candidates).
- For admission to the Jadavpur University, the candidates should have secured minimum 60% of marks (55% for reserved category candidates).
- The candidate must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as the core subjects.
