What’s New in JEE 2018?

IIT Kanpur will conduct the JEE Advanced 2018 Exam for admission to 23 IITs for a total of12,428 seats. From next year, the IITs will also earmark special seats for women/ female engineering aspirants. In a Joint Admission Board (JAB) meeting conducted this year, a recommendation to hike the seats allotted to women to 14% (around 1600) was proposed, thus taking the total number to 1,440.

This year a total 2.24 lac JEE Mains Qualified Candidates will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2018. The results will be declared by 30th April, 2018.

The dates for the first level of entrance the JEE Main 2018 PAPER  are as follows.

The offline pen and paper based exam – 1 (B.E./B.Tech.), will be held on Sunday, 08-Apr-2018 from 0930-1230 hrs (IST) and the Online modes on Sunday, 15-Apr-2018, and Monday 16-Apr-2018 in two shifts. The 1st shift is scheduled to be held from 0930-1230 Hours (IST) & 2nd shift, if required, 1400-1700 Hours (IST).

The JEE Advanced Exam will be conducted only in Online Mode. JEE (Advanced) 2018 will have two papers. Both the papers are compulsory. Each paper is of 3 hours duration and will have questions in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The complete examination will be conducted in COMPUTER BASED TEST (CBT) MODE ONLY. JAB members said they were optimistic that the online version of the JEE Advanced will ensure that there is greater accuracy and transparency in the test.

The questions will be in both English and Hindi language.

Slot Booking: From the year 2018, students will be able to book their slot for the online mode examination. The allotment of slots/dates will be on first come first served basis.

For the 2018 candidates, no weightage will be given to 12th class marks for calculating All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main.

However, in order to qualify for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, candidates must have at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in higher secondary examination or must be in top 20 percentile in class 12th examination conducted by respective boards.

No verification will be required for 12th class roll number.

It is compulsory for Candidates to have Aadhaar Card Number to fill the application form. (Candidates from Meghalaya, J&K and Assam are excluded from this provision)
