The Institute has taken a decision to discontinue the OMR based examination and has started the Computer Based Examination (CBE) since June 2014.
You will still continue to be assessed through multiple choice questions (MCQs). You will be given 4 options, of which one will be correct. There is no negative marking for the wrong answer.
Here is the marking scheme of Computer Based Examination:-
General students
Admission fees: Rs. 1500

Q.1: How do I register for the Company Secretaryship Course?
A: For the registration process, please log onto the official ICSI website, then select “online services” (at the top of the homepage on right-hand side) and proceed.
Q.2: Can a student give the CS Foundation examination from home?
A: No. The computer-based exam needs to be given in a secure testing environment at the specified examination centre. An authorized proctor needs to be present to launch and monitor the examination process.
Q.3: What is the last date of registration for the Foundation Program?
A: Admissions are open throughout the year. But, there are certain pre-decided cut-off dates for the CS Examinations that are conducted in June and December every year. These are the cut-off dates: 31st March for appearing in the December exam of the same year and 30th September for appearing in the June exam of the next year.
Q.4: Is there a negative marking system for a wrong answers?
A: No. The CS Foundation exam does not have any negative marking for a wrong answer.
Q.5: What is the medium of questions in the Computer Based Examination?
A: Questions are given in both English and Hindi language. But for subjects Business Management, Ethics and Communication subject, questions are provided only in English.
