  • Be thorough with your basics: Most questions in the UPTU UPSEE exam are asked with the motive of testing the basics of the applicants. The more you read about concepts, the more you realise how each and every one of them is applied to different questions.
  • Time management: You must allocate almost equal time to all three subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics – with a special focus on your weak areas.
  • Define your study material: Studying from too many sources often causes chaos and confusion. You should refrain from repeatedly studying the same concepts from different sources and instead stick to a few well-known and established reference books. It is always better to evolve a concept through problem-solving rather than just reading textbooks.
  • Know your strengths and weaknesses: Your preparation is strictly governed by self-analysis. Knowing your weaknesses allows you to work on concepts you’re weak at. Ask doubts, probe further into concepts and leave no stone unturned.
  • Simulating examination: Take help of previous years’ UPTU UPSEE question papers, mock test papers and test series; and practice them under timed conditions. It is also important to adapt your body clock to the examination timings so that you can deliver your best in that duration.
  • Revision notes: Make proper notes of concepts that require regular revision. These could be mathematical formulae or important chemical reactions; basically, anything that is important and is expected to be remembered for the exam. These notes are invaluable in your last-minute preparation and help you to quickly go through concepts.

Rank List

The UPTU UPSEE exam is held for 12 courses. Every course has a different paper set for it. A scorecard is released after the UPTU UPSEE result is announced. It includes the total marks and marks obtained in each subject. Students can go ahead and download their score card through the official website of UPSEE.

Tie-Breaking Criteria

In case two or more candidates have the same rank, then the tiebreaker is decided as follows:

  • Candidates who attempt less number of incorrect answers will be ranked higher in merit list.
  • Also, students older in age will be given preference over the younger ones in the merit list. This rule is applicable for B. Tech., B. Pharm., B. Arch., B. Tech. (Ag. Engg.), B. Tech. (Bio Tech), BHMCT, BFAD, BFA and Integrated MBA, MBA, MCA and lateral entry

Cut-off is the minimum score at which admission to undergraduate engineering courses are offered by all participating institutes. When candidates meet the minimum cut-off marks, they get admission into their desired courses offered by the participating institutes.

For cut-off marks, the following factors are considered:

  • Number of students appearing in the examination
  • Number of students clearing the examination
  • Total marks obtained
  • Exam difficulty level
  • Availability of seats
  • Number of participating universities
  • Performance of the candidates

If candidates score more marks than the UPSEE 2017 Cut-off, they are eligible for the counselling process.
