Biological Classification Class 11 CBSE Revision Notes

This article deals with biological classification class 11 notes. Firstly, there certainly have always been attempts to classify living organisms in human history. Earlier on, people did classification instinctively without any scientific criteria. The first person to attempt scientific classification was Aristotle. Furthermore, Aristotle made use of simple morphological characters to enable the classification of plants into shrubs, herbs, and trees. Moreover, Aristotle divided animals into two groups on the basis of whether they had red blood or not.

Consequently, Linnaeus came forward with an important classification of living organisms into two kingdoms- Animalia and Plantae. Whittaker came forward with an elaborate five-kingdom classification- Protista, Monera, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia. Most noteworthy, the most important criteria of the five-kingdom classification were the structure of a cell, mode of nutrition and reproduction, and the phylogenetic relationships. Thus, biological classification class 11 notes will dive deep in this topic.
