10.2.1: Pascal’s Law:
Pascal saw during experiments that the pressure in a fluid at rest is the same at all points at the same height.
10.2.2: Variation of Pressure with Depth:
The student will study that pressure varies with depth also.
10.2.3: Atmospheric Pressure and Gauge Pressure:
These two pressures are very important to know for the students.
10.2.4: Hydraulic Machines:
The student will study that a number of devices like hydraulic lift and hydraulic brakes are based on Pascal’s law.
10.3: Streamline flow:
It is a path of a fluid particle under steady flow.
10.4: Bernoulli’s principle:
Fluid flow is a complex phenomenon although we can obtain some useful properties for streamline flows using the Bernoulli’s principle.
10.4.1: Speed of Efflux: Torricelli’s Law:
This is the speed of a freely falling body given in the form of the equation.
It is a device to measure the flow speed of the incompressible fluid.
10.4.3: Blood Flow and Heart Attack:
The student will come to know that Bernoulli’s principle helps in explaining about blood flow in the artery.
10.4.4: Dynamic Lift:
Dynamic lift is the force which acts on a body for example s airplane wing
Viscosity is the resistance to fluid motion which is like internal friction similar to friction when a solid moves on a surface.
10.5.1: Stokes’ Law:
This law states that the viscous force is proportional to the velocity of the object and is opposite to the direction of motion.
10.6: Reynolds number:
It is a dimensionless number giving value for an approximate idea about the turbulence of flow.
10.7: Surface tension:
It is an important phenomenon occurring at the surface of the liquid.
10.7.1: Surface Energy:
It is a form of energy-related with surface tension and is existing due to the attraction between molecules of the liquid.
10.7.2: Surface Energy and Surface Tension:
The student will learn the mutual relationship between surface tension and surface energy.
10.7.3: Angle of Contact:
It is the angle between tangents to the liquid surface at the point of contact with a solid surface inside the liquid.
