15.3: Displacement relation in a progressive wave:
This section deals with the displacement relation in a progressive wave. Equation of wave will represent a sinusoidal traveling wave.
15.3.1 Amplitude and Phase:
Two main characteristics of waves like amplitude and phase will give an important concept about waves.
15.3.2 Wavelength and Angular Wave Number:
Wavelength is the minimum distance between two points having the same phase.
15.3.3 Period, Angular Frequency and Frequency:
The student will study formula and equation dealing with the period and frequency of a wave.
15.4: The speed of a traveling wave:
A formula given here will determine the speed of propagation of a traveling wave using the value of its wavelength.
15.4.1 Speed of a Transverse Wave on Stretched String:
The student will study to calculate the speed of transverse waves on a stretched string.
15.4.2 Speed of a Longitudinal Wave (Speed of Sound):
