Tropical Climate – Characteristics and Countries

Tropical Climate

A tropical climate I a non-arid climate and in this climate all twelve months have a temperature of warmer than 18° centigrade or 64° F. However, there are only two seasons in the tropical climates: a wet season and on the other hand a dry season.

Characteristics of Tropical Climate

When we refer to this climate, tropical meaning it is basically a non-arid climate. The term tropical meaning it is a very specific word which has an average temperature.

The wet season might run away from the high-sun half of the year in the case of Aw/As climates. It runs from the month of April to the month of September in the northern hemisphere. And in the southern hemisphere from the month of October to the month of March.

It also might run from the low-sun half of the year that runs from the month of October to the month of March in the northern hemisphere, and from the month of April to the month of September in the southern hemisphere.

The tropical climates are basically frost-free, and in the solar angle, the changes are very small. In the tropical climates, throughout the year the temperature remains relatively constant (warm) and the sunlight is intense.

The climate there is tropical meaning to say it is very hot and humid in the temperature.

Tropical Rainforest Climate

The tropical rainforest climates basically occur close to the equator, near about 10 or 15 degrees north and south latitude of the equator.

The doldrums of the intertropical convergence zone dominates this climate, and the area of calm winds, sinking air and frequently occurring rainfalls.

Along with this, the seasonal rainfalls are heavy, equal to or more than 200 cm that is 80 inches annually. There is either no dry season or a maximum of two dry months.

The average precipitation of at least 60 mm (2.4 inches) occurs during the total 12 months.

The Amazon basin of South America, Congo basin of equatorial Africa and oceanic margins of the parts of tropical West Africa have tropical rainforest climates.

Southeast Asia’s insular and peninsular area (Malaysia, Thailand, New Guinea, Philippines, Indonesia, etc.) comprises of the most extensive region with the tropical rainforest climate.

The parts of the Caribbean islands and Eastern Central America, Brazil’s Atlantic margins, eastern Madagascar Island, and the southern Ceylon comprise of small areas with the tropical rainforest climate.

Tropical Monsoon Climate

This type of climate occurs because of the monsoon winds which changes its direction according to the seasons. In this kind of tropical climate, there is a short and distinct dry season.

Therefore, this one comes under the influence of intertropical convergence zone at the time of high sun basically in summers, and under the influence of drier trade winds at the time of low sun i.e. basically in the winters.

Countries of the Tropical Climate

Three huge areas conform to the tropical meaning or definition of a tropical climate. On the other hand, there are some less popular areas that are actually that tropical include the savannas In Africa and the semiarid areas throughout the whole world.

Apart from this Southeast Asia and Central America are the two of the popular tropical areas that are by comparison.

Intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ)

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is an area where the northeast and the southeast trade winds are covered. Near the thermal equator, it encircles the earth as a result of which its specific position changes seasonally.
