Retirement Farewell Speech for Students and Children

Introduction to Retirement Farewell Speech

Retirement is a bittersweet time that every employee has to face. As it turns out, today I have to deal with that experience. As you all know the traditional custom on this day is to deliver an emotional speech. So, here I am feeling honored, anxious, and excited as I am about to deliver my retirement farewell speech.

Retirement Farewell Speech

Reflecting on the Past

I have spent twenty-five years at this company. Twenty-five years! is certainly a very significant part of any individual’s life. Furthermore, when I joined this company, I was in a lower marketing position. Now I retire from the prestigious position of executive director of this company.

Moreover, this company had an important role to play in making me the person I am today. A massive amount of my intellectual and skillful development took place due to this Company. Above all, this company gave me precious experience over the years that money can’t buy.

I remember the first day when I began working for this company. I was confident and nervous as my training period commenced. The first few months were tough as I was still learning new things. Sometimes I had to face the wrath of my boss as I made mistakes. But I kept on working hard with passion and ambition.

As the years went by, I attained regular promotions due to my efforts and climbed up the hierarchical ladder. Consequently, four years back I became the executive director of this company. Finally, today that long journey is coming to an end.

Acknowledging the Staff

I consider myself a lucky man as I had the opportunity of working alongside an absolutely amazing staff. Furthermore, I had a really fantastic working environment thanks to my dear friends and colleagues.

Moreover, I will dearly miss the companionship of this awesome staff. The efficiency and vigilance of the staff is a major reason behind the success of this company.

Over the years I made some fierce friends among the staff. Furthermore, these friends stood with me even in times of calamity and upheavals. I may be leaving this company but the friendship I have made here is lifelong.

Advice for the Younger Generation

My dear youngsters, let me share a few words of wisdom with you. You have a long life ahead but never take any day for granted. My life and job experience have taught me one thing and that is life is very short indeed. You may think that you have a lot of years at your hands but such thinking is not good.

The responsibilities of your job and life will make time perception very quick. Soon months will feel like weeks and weeks will feel like days. So, enjoy and cherish each moment as it comes in life.

Another advice I would like to give is to develop a perfect balance between planning and improvisation. Believe me, both are equally important as my long job experience has taught me. I know some people are natural planners. Furthermore, they like to make elaborate plans for most things in life. Consequently, such a way of living life is too hard and complex.

In contrast, some individuals rely too much on improvisation which is also not a good thing. Such individuals grossly underestimate the importance of planning. Hence, you must always maintain a perfect balance between planning and improvisation.

After serving my company with the utmost honesty, it is time for me to step down. The older generation passes on to make way for the younger generation. This certainly is the law of life. With my retirement, I hope to pave way for a new, fresh, energetic, and ambitious executive director.
