Highlights on Assam re-opening Schools:
Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, has announced that from 1st January 2021 all the academic restrictions will be withdrawn in Assam. The educational institutions from elementary school to university levels will resume in-person following the fresh SOPs issued. The hostels for students have been opened from 15th December 2020.
Mumbai: Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, has said that from 1st January 2021 all the academic restrictions imposed on the educational institutions from elementary school to university levels due to COVID-19 protocols will be withdrawn in Assam.
The decision to lift the restrictions was taken as the prevailing situation in the state has improved and a very few Covid-19 positive cases are registered. With the beginning of the regular classes at all levels, the attendance will also be normal.
However, Mr Sarma added that the wearing of masks, use of sanitizers and social distancing will continue to be observed. Also, the education department shall issue a fresh set of protocols and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in this regard.
Since 20th March the educational institutions is Assam were also closed similar to the educational institutions across the country and only online classes were held for the students from 1st September.
The Minister for Health and Family Welfare has announced that from 1st January 2021 the elementary classes will begin. The hostels of colleges and universities for residential students of Classes 10 and 12 have started from 15th December.
The health department is continuously monitoring the situation and if there is an increase in cases, it shall take the action accordingly.
