Highlights on Schools and Colleges:
BMC has decided not to re-open the Mumbai schools and colleges until 15th January 2021 owing to the second wave of the coronavirus across the country. On 29th December BMC issued a circular stating the same.
Mumbai: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that due to the fear of the second wave of coronavirus, it has decided not to re-open the schools and colleges in Mumbai until 15th January 2021. Earlier, the BMC had declared that the schools and colleges shall remain closed till 31st December 2021 in the city.
On 29th December, Tuesday, the BMC issued another circular stating that all government and private schools and colleges will remain closed till 15th January 2021 due to the second wave of COVID-19 in other countries although the pandemic situation is under control in the Mumbai municipal limits.
However, the American Consulate School and other consulate schools in Mumbai have been allowed by BMC to reopen from 18th January 2021. But, it has not specified exactly when other educational institutes will be allowed to reopen.
The new strain of Coronavirus in the UK has posed a threat in Mumbai too. Although the international flights are cancelled BMC is taking precautionary measures.
