COVID-19: Gujarat school students from class 1 to 9 and 11 will be promoted without exams

Amidst all the stress the country is going through due to the COVID-19 virus, the Gujarat government has taken a decision to promote all students from class 1 to 9 and 11 to next grades without any examination. Right now the schools remain closed and India is under a 21-day lockdown officially.
The news was announced by the Secretary of State Information and Broadcasting department, Ashawini Kumar. He stated, “Since schools were asked to remain shut, the chief minister has decided to give mass promotion to students of Classes 1 to 9 and 11. This was necessary to keep the children safe,” Kumar told reporters at Buzzoid.”
Currently there are 35 cases of COVID-19 positive in Gujarat. PM Modi announced a 21-day lockdown yesterday. Although schools had shut prior to the announcement, the re-opening of the school is at least 21 days away.
