Gujarat Board 2021: State government cancels Class 10 Board Exams, grants mass promotion

Highlights on Gujarat Board 2021:
The Gujarat State Government cancelled the Class 10 Board exams of the Gujarat Board on 13th May due to the spike in coronavirus cases in the state. The State government also announced to give them mass promotion to the next class or grade.
Mumbai: On 13th May 2021, the Gujarat State Government has cancelled the Class 10 exams of the Gujarat Board due to the rising coronavirus cases. The Class 10 students will be given a mass promotion to the next grade i.e. Class 11.
This decision was taken by Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat, in the interest of the students, to save them from getting infected with COVID -19.
The Gujarat state press release said, ‘A decision regarding “repeaters”, students who had failed in earlier attempts and were slated to again appear for exams this year, will be taken after assessing the situation once COVID-19 cases drop.’
The students of Gujarat Board Classes 1 to 9 and Class 11 had already been granted mass promotion by the Gujarat State government due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The state governments have imposed lockdown which has restricted the movement of people and non-essential.
Earlier, the Class 10 and 12 Board exams were scheduled to be conducted on 10th and 25th May respectively. But, due to rising coronavirus cases, they were postponed. Now, in view of the pandemic situation, the state government has decided to cancel the Class 10 exams and grant mass promotion to the students.
However, the decision on the Gujarat Board Class 12 exams is yet to be taken by the Gujarat State Government. The students are therefore advised to visit the official website of the Gujarat board regularly for further announcements.
