ICSE authority has granted approval to allow rechecking of individual papers of the candidates.
Mumbai: In a decision by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, the candidates can now apply for rechecking of papers individually instead of having to apply for the revaluation of all the combined subjects. The students can individually apply to recheck Physics, Chemistry, and Biology papers for the Science subjects. The same principle applies to other subjects like History, Civics, and Geography as well as English.
Students of ICSE board appear for multiple subjects with 100 marks individually that are then clubbed together to bring down the overall weightage to 100. For e.g., History, Civics, and Geography subjects are of 200 marks combined, tagged under the HCG category, which is then weighted down to 100.
A principal who attended the Board meeting said that it took a long process earlier for CISCE as each paper under the combined subjects of HCG, English, or Science had to be rechecked as compared to the individual correction now. Another teacher added that the time duration for the rechecking of papers is anticipated to be reduced.
The Council for the first time sent question papers to the schools for conducting the annual examination of Standard 9th and 11th for which, some principals have requested answer booklets and marking pattern. But the Council, however, is reluctant to do so because they do not want to turn the entire system in a Board pattern.
With numerous affiliations in the country and presence overseas, the CISCE is all set to start its first affiliated school this year in Italy, Rome. This decision was announced during the branch meeting held in the presence of Association heads of the Anglo-Indian Schools, West Bengal. The new office in Hyderabad is also being proposed for the West and South regions.
