Highlights on IIT JEE Mains 2021:
The registrations for IIT JEE Mains are likely to increase by approximately 1 lakh due to the scrapping of UPSEE and also the extension of the last date of registrations.
Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE) which is a state-level entrance exam has been scrapped this year. As per the sources, the number of aspirants for IIT JEE Mains has increased due to this reason. Approximately 11 lakh students have registered this year for IIT JEE Mains 2020. Around 6.5 lakh students registered for February session and around 4.5 lakh candidates have registered for March, May, April session.
In 2020, approximately 9.5 lakh students had registered for IIT JEE Mains. Since the last date for registration has also been extended till 23rd January 2021 a slight increase in registrations is expected.
In the words of an NTA official, “With the candidates taking the exam multiple times, total tests taken is expected to cross at least 20 lakh (considering past attendance) this year, which means as per present estimate the ratio to each unique candidate to the number of tests taken stands at 1:1.8 as against 1:1.2. This year, with the joining of Uttar Pradesh engineering colleges, it was expected that the number of registrations will increase.”
Haryana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Maharashtra and Punjab are the other states besides Uttar Pradesh that will accept JEE Main 2021 scores.
The IIT JEE Mains 2021 syllabus has also been released by the NTA on the official website. It has not been reduced this year.
